An appropriate title I think for all that has been happening the last 5 weeks or so. Sometimes it comes in buckets that hit and run and other times in light showers that never seem to end.
If you count both the weather and the problems that have been coming my way I am in need of some real R & R.
First it was the tornado weather and rain that hit during our camping trip. It didn't really dampen our spirits or fun but it sure made a few things more difficult. Then I get home and we find out that the high blood pressure that had been keeping Tiny from working since January was because they were using the wrong size cuff. Once they started using the right one they discovered that his blood pressure was fine and he could go back on the road. A few days later the transmission goes out on our Durango and it is going to take a minimum of $1500 to fix, my 15 year old van is not in the greatest of shape so we are not really able to leave town.
Soon after that Tiny gets sick and ends up in the hospital (no insurance).....one gall bladder surgery, 3 days in ICU and a total of 8 days later he is back home and on the mend. They also discovered that he has severe obstructive sleep apnea so he now is wearing a Bi-PAP machine and 4 liters of oxygen when he sleeps so he won't be able to go back to work after all.......they don't usually have semi's set up for all of that equipment and oxygen. Luckily the hospital has a charity program and is forgiving his entire bill, except for 2 doctors, and paid for the breathing equipment to have at home.
3 days after I get him home I somehow managed to aggravate my right knee, the good one, and ended up with Patella Tendinitis so I have been hobbling around for the last 10 days. I am taking turns favoring my left over my right so I can keep moving........my son says I walk like a penguin........lol.
Last Thursday morning we had a storm come thru that took a couple of large branches from our tree out back and put them on our roof at 4 am. One of them managed to actually put an 8 inch hole in the new part of the roof over the kitchen. So Tiny, fresh out of the hospital, and me, on two bad legs, were out in the back yard at 7:30 am calling everyone we knew for help. 2 friends came to repair the hole, another friend came next and took a chain saw up on the roof to cut and throw down the branches and then my dad, brother and brother in law came to cut up that and another tree that had split in half and take it to the curb for pick up.
And now tonight, without doctors clearance, Tiny has gone back on the road for a 7 hour trip to drive a chase car for a couple of guys who are hauling carnival rides up north so they have a way back home. He says he can't take sitting around anymore and that we need the money to fix the transmission. I made sure they understood to not let him do anything except drive and to keep a close eye on him if he falls asleep on the way home. I couldn't get him to not go, I told him that the vehicle isn't that important right now, so I bet I won't get much sleep tonight.
Once this heat wave we are having passes I am taking my niece on a camping trip. Something tells me I will be more than ready to hide out in the woods for a few days by then.
