I just changed it to where absolutely anyone can make comments on blogs or photos.
No time to read them today, therefore no time to approve them. Mostly, I always do, anyway, in the end - approve them, that is. I do, however, try to weed out the really cussy, threatening, and/or insulting bits.
Right now, I just don't care, as I won't be reading the comments, unless they are from someone like Fender, Misschoos, kjac, that lovely woman whose ID I forget but which I'll recognize when I see it, etc. In other words, the people whom I already know a bit, and value the opinions of. And, the reason I won't be reading anyone else's comments is that they are:
1. Generally off topic and a waste of time and energy that, due to my illness, I have very little of
2. An even bigger waste of time in that I feel if one reads it, and there is a response to be made, one should respond, out of politness; but, then you have to respond to the people who are all upset that you responded in the first place, who assume that you are on a tirade, etc.
3. Usually made by people who just want to be seen making comments, who have nothing relevant to add. And/Or
4. Usually made by people who want to object to a person's sex, size, lifestyle choice, etc. rather than to address the topic under discussion.
Personally, at times, I'd rather deal with the Taliban. At least they don't pretend not to listen to women, or to not try to force them into roles, or to being tolerant. If people are going to be weird, sexist, religiously intolerant, and generally oppressive, I'd rather them do it honestly than by subtle, and wrong, insinuations, favoritism, alleged poetry, or etc.
Today, however, outside of those reasons, I need to work on cleaning up the pink room; so called, because the walls are painted pink. There's a large load of mixed items on a bed that, within about a week, will need to have my eldest daughter on it, instead.
Guess which is more important, between reading comments that are off topic and generally prone to silliness, at best, or making sure my daughter is comfortable during her visit. Go on, guess!
So, there were three choices, as far as comments go:
1) Leave things as they are and simple delete them without reading them, thereby the ones who are not approved would stay not approved, and the makers of them would be bound to get miffety and start posting blogs as to how they are being oppressed by all the Christians in the world (despite the fact that none of the religions of Christendom consider me Christian).
2) Block all comments, which would still have the above undesirable effect - and goodness knows we don't need any more of that around here- while also alienating the people whom I do, most definitely, want to hear from.
3) Let all the comments go on as they will, and delete the emails without reading them. This should, hopefully, keep the blogs spawned from the event to a minimum, not alienate the people I care to hear from, and save me oodles of time.
Which is good, because, on top of cleaning the room, I need to go swimming; and, we are going to finish watching 'John Adams' . Which, by the way, is far more interesting than I expected it to be, but, oh so long!
Yes, I would recommend it! Whether you are American or not, political or not, it is a rather eye-opening series, well filmed, well acted, and all the way around entertaining.
