There are people who seem to be easily led in to being puppets, dancing beneath the strings of someone else, there are others who enjoy being the puppeteers who pull the strings and watch them dance to their tune.
In an ideal world there would be neither, but as this is in fact a world that is full of leaders and followers, the puppets and puppeteers continue to exist.
Being an individual thinker is what we all want to be, and many succeed, but some rely on others to think for them, so are easy targets for the puppeteers. Some become puppets for people willingly, thinking that the puppeteer knows best, so as each string is pulled, the puppet dances to whatever tune is being played.
Yet some puppets don’t even realise that they are just that. They think that they are going along with the other persons thoughts and ideas because they want to, little realising they have been pulled in to or even sucked in to the puppeteers ideas and not thinking for themselves.
Every issue in our lives, whether its is family, friends or even politics should be thought through with ones own take on what’s going on, and not just agree with whoever just because you believe in them as a person or think they can be trusted.
To weigh up every issue, to ask questions, to be open to know there could be another side to what someone is saying is showing individuality, a strength in ones own self and ones own opinions.
A puppet is someone who believes the puppeteer when they say something is grey and that is final. Someone who isn’t would argue that it is both black and white mixed because they have thought about the statement and analysed it, whereas a puppet does not question.
But there is a right and a wrong way to argue any point.
If one relies on name calling, or abusive in tone, their own opinion gets lost in a sea of venom and their point can no longer be heard.
No-one can be shouted down to believe in another opinion, but they can be shown another side, expressed with calm and dignity. It does not mean that they are right over the other, but it will give the listener an opportunity to know that there is another side to analyse and think about.
Puppeteers are usually insecure people, who need to feel in control of others to fulfill themselves, whilst puppets prefer to have their thoughts and opinions made for them.
We are all entitled to our own beliefs and opinions, but none of us have the right to become puppeteers, and we should all try to avoid becoming puppets, by listening to both sides of every argument and coming to our own conclusions with enquiring minds and open for new ideas.

Yes, and those who are neither the puppet nor the puppeteer find great amusement in the show.
