Making your own beer bread is as easy as 1 2 3, or actually 4 3 2 1.
4 Set the oven at 400 degrees.
3 Put 3 cups of self rising flour in a bowl
2 Add 2 spoons of sugat, tea or table , rounded ot flat, to taste. I do flat tablespoons.
1 Pour in 1 can (12 oz) of your favorite beer (or drink your favorite and pour in another kind), stir till mixed, pour into a greased loaf pan, and place in oven.
Ignore the temperature guage. It's done when it smells good, and an inserted toothpick comes out clean.
Garnish with half a pound of real butter, and drink the other five cans of beer to wash it down.
Good hot, better cold!

Don't forget to mention the pretzels misschoos (with a small "m" because that's the way she likes it) ........
Ah yes...Black Box Merlot, pretzels and good sharp cheese, even if it was a funny color colour.
Cornbread is good.... but like everything else....must be done just right, and enjoyed with just the right foods.....
Grits suck....period. Just like eating sand.

Wasn't into the looking glass an indictment of organized religion? I thought you were above this kind of anti-religious stuff.
Just kidding. It's nice to read something that was actually worth the time it took to type.

re: The article & picture in the paper.
I lived in Ft Collins for a few years, '80 - '84 & my oldest daughter lives in Loveland now.
Some might say, "It's a small world"
Others might say, "It is a very big, big world between time zones"
I have been following your adventures with large smiles.
Thank you for sharing what you have.

Awesome photographs! Enjoyed them all. I must admit I was most impressed with the "SEX" station, though. It definitely appears you both had a wonderful visit!
I know grits are are a relatively regional delicacy. I'm not sure everyone in the United States is big on cornbread either....apparently not since neither of you tried it.
Thank you for sharing so much with us here.

Grits suck, I only tried them because I was scared of the big black momma behind the counter who looked as though she'd be offended if I didn't.
Beer bread was nice but sourdough was the best ... .
Catfish was really good, I had it with potato salad and beer bread the day we were married.
I adore Saltenes ... we don't really have an equivalent cracker in the UK. We have salty crackers but nothing of the same 'melt in your mouth' texture as Saltenes.
Eggs were nicer over there too ... you have to buy the most expensive, organically fed, free range eggs in the UK to have half a chance of flavour. The cheapest eggs in Jackson were delicious, especially the way Deda cooks them .
The sharp cheese we had was okay but I've had better cheeses. I didn't think it was a funny colour, it was similar to red leicester or coloured cheddar. However, the mozzarella was much nicer than the sweaty stuff we get here ... .
Forgot to mention two cold Buds in quick succession in 90 plus degrees of heat gets you really drunk really quick ... I found myself shouting off the pub balcony that I'd just got married.
They don't like their wine in Jackson, I was shocked they don't sell it in Walmart. There was a snooty wine shop within walking distance of Deda's place but we only went there once. The cheapest wine was $10. I bought a nice red Cabernet but it lasted me three days because it was too hot most of the time to really enjoy a red. White gives me a hangover, so does lager (what Americans call beer) ... I preferred the dark beer, St Paulie Girl or something ... really good. Even warm, it was still refreshing ... probably because it was still cooler than the climate.
We tried to ride the bus from Jackson bus station to the Zoo but they couldn't change a $10 bill and were quite rude about it. They probably did us a favour, we'd already walked miles across town and I had huge blisters on the soles of my feet. We'd also attempted to catch a bus into town but decided to walk until one came along, we were practically in town by the time one actually did so walked the rest of the way.
We didn't take a cab ... Chris's friends gave us plenty of rides in their cars. It seems cracked windscreens are obligatory out there, everyone has one.
Good God, this sculpture looks just like you!
