Sometime ago, I wrote a blog about my eventual move to China. On May 11, I did something to my knee..I have no idea what..but it started hurting. I was off to China for two weeks on May 13 and this was not going to stop me! If any of you have ever been to China, then you know that your feet are the number #1 mode of transportation throughout the day in the city. The more I walked, the more it hurt. By the time I got home on May 27, it was killing me! I went back to work on May 29th and half way through the shift...POW!!! and down I went. I hobbled through the rest of the shift and made my way to the Emergency Room(Saturday morning). Diagnosis - severe sprain...BS..nothing hurts this bad if it is only sprained!

I went to see my doctor after a week and it was no better. He sent me to a ortho doc and he did an MRI..torn cartilage...nothing serious, but would require surgery to repair it.

Well, not being able to work and not being able to do much of anything, I decided to see what I could get done with a computer and a telephone. My schedule was to move next January as I thought it would take me that long to get everything done that needed doing before I moved.

Good things can come of bad things!

In less than ten days, I had managed to sell, both my cars, a custom chopper, all my furniture, all my appliances...basically everything I owned.....my home looks like the Mongols just got through invading. In my home, there is a computer, a coffee maker, a toaster, one plate, one coffee cup, two forks and a spoon, my toiletries, two bath towels, my clothes and me. Nothing else.

I have accepted a contract to teach English at a very large school middle (junior high)in Chengdu. I have my invitation letter from the school, my Z visa so I can work.

Oh...did I mention I got married finally! We had filed the marriage papers some time ago so we were legally married, but we had the actual wedding ceremony when I was there, hurt knee and all.

So, now I wait...Everything is done. The airplane ticket is bought, the stocks are sold, the cash is waiting....I have surgery on my knee the 29th and then on the 14th, I fly!!!!

I can't wait. I speak very little Chinese...and I mean VERY LITTLE!...My wife speaks even less English, but somehow, we communicate most of the time with very little difficulty..we do use a pocket translator, a computer, draw pictures, scribble on the wall, heirogryphics, whatever it takes.

I have a son! He is 14, speaks some English, but is very shy and reserved. It will do him good to have someone to practice his English with. He's never had a Dad, and I have never had a son, so we both get something new!

My wife has four sisters and they are all married, so I have a big family! They all get together every Saturday for beer and dinner and then more beer and karaoke. They are a hoot. Mama is a good woman. She is quiet, but she knows her family and she loves them all, even the B-I-L's that love to party.

After I get over there and get settled, I'm going to blog more on my new life in China. Hopefully, my experiences might open some people eyes to other possibilities than those right under their nose..did you know that there are over 1,200 beautiful Chines women on this website?

Anyway, for now, this is it...more to come!!!
