Friends,
Just over 25 hours ago I was being lead into an office to be told 34 positions at my job were being eliminated including mine.
Now I am not asking for any sympathy and such I just want to tell my story on how things went down.
I asked what was your reasoning behind this? "I was told job performance review played a key into our decision"...I told them I didn't have a review....second excuse was "attendance played a big key into it"...I told them-(HR) I never missed a day since I was hired back in 08/08...in fact I earned 3 personal day days for perfect attendance...so the next excuse and their final playing card was low man on the totem pole.
I said alright,signed the documents and was shown the door....for a brief flash I thought what was I going to do? But I know my faith and willingness won't keep me down.
I posted on facebook...no Ill will here towards said company...I thank them for a HUGE opportunity and wish them success on finding how to change their company around. It was a hell of a ride and yeah it sucked I had to get off a little early.
Just look for Michigan's unemployment rate to jump again this quarter...

You handled your self with honor. You should be commended for at least that. How many people would scream, yell, and throw a fit? **looks around* So much for the obama stimulus plan that saves jobs huh?

As an accountant last year I saw a lot of small personal business shut down, larger clients cutting their staff in half and many people long time employed at disney lost their jobs as well. The stories are hairy scary and very sad.

Thanks all for the comments and support...MD friends are the best. I know the lines are long at the unemployment office but here in Michigan you can do it online...so that should make it bit easier.
I am just not the type to sit around for 79 weeks or how ever long unemploment lasts...I love to work. I like to share my day with work friends not matter where it is at etc...
Did they do it fairly? I don't know and maybe never will but the writing was on the wall...for those that want to to know I worked in the office furniture buisness...it's a tough industry and when accepting any manufacturing position I knew in my heart this could happen at any given moment. The pressue is gone now knowing that I don't have a job then going in everyday as I did NOT knowing if today was the day!

You handled this situation admirably. I do hope that something better is right around the corner for you.
Michigan is a tough place to live right now.. 
Heck..in NC..I cannot even find or hire decent farm help. Perhaps it would be worth my while to import some decent staff from Michigan.

There was NO stimulous....none...
