It's really hot weather here in Dayton, OH right now. We've been in or near the 90's for what seems like eternity, so what better way to cool down than to get some ice cream. I know I'm supposed to avoid it - the doctors tell you to watch your diet; keep your cholesterol down; but are they sitting in this heat? When you've got your a/c running, plus the fans to circulate the air even better, trying to forget your craving for something cold is impossible.

Now don't tell me to drink more water. I feel water logged already! You can only drink so much water, and that just increases your trips to the bathroom as well.

When I go shopping in this heat, that darn Dairy Queen store just calls my name. Such a welcomed relief from the sun and humidity. Nothing special for me, just an ice cream cone will do. Only trouble is you have to eat fast because it melts so quickly. So time is of the essence when you're looking for relief.

So I'm thinking perhaps with the several weeks of summer still awaiting us, I need to admit it. I'm addicted. Is there an ice cream addict support group? I've already checked out my scales, and they agreed with me - I really need to end this relationship with ice cream....but the weather remains hot and humid....there's nothing to hold me back. I've tried switching to yogurt thinking that's what they tell you on the show BIGGEST LOSER. You just don't get the same effect! It doesn't have that cute curly Q at the top either like you get from Dairy Queen.

Well from the looks of the drive thru at Dairy Queen, I'm not the only one with the problem in this heat. Perhaps this would be a good place to start my support group? Surely there are many there awaiting my arrival to save them too.

Also, if the line at Dairy Queen is too long, I can always travel across the street to McDonald's. It's certainly cheaper there to have one of their cones. However, it isn't as big as the one from Dairy Queen. You won't get as much cold relief from this agonizing heat with the little cones at McD's - it's only a temporary fix.

Well, it's after 10pm here now - the Dairy Queen is closed....but McDonald's is open 24 hours!!
