Every year, hunters are shot by other hunters. The reason for this is that often a hunter has his attention fixed upon his prey to such an extent that he doesn't pay attention to his surroundings as much as he should.
I know the road is long from the ground to glory But a boy can hope he's getting some place But you see, I'm running from the very clothes I'm wearing And dressed like this, I'm fit for the chase

Have a great day folks. Try not to hunt unless you need food.

That happens during opening season for any sport. Racing season drivers are hurt, do they really need to race their cars? Fox hunting season people get hurt on horses, do they really need to ride? Deer hunting season or rabbit, they get hurt too or even lost in the woods, do they really need to hunt? Sometimes even while vacationing in the summer people get hurt while driving on the roads so lets stop going on vacations. It is the season for vacations after all..........Just because a season comes up and it's something we don't actually "have" to do something doesn't mean we should stop, I agree be careful, but someone is always going to get hurt, it's called "life" and no matter what you are doing when "God" says it's your turn to go, no matter what you are doing, you just have to go JC, I'm sorry but that's the way it is. It's just your season to leave the Earth, plain and simple. Take care Lost

I'll say. But it pays to be careful when you're just hunting for the sport of hunting. That's why you should only hunt for food, else you might bag something you hadn't planned on.
I actually don't hunt at all myself, but I do target practice. That way only my target gets hit, instead of some sportster.

I'm with you on the fishing. But it applies too. last week I caught a nice puppy drum on the intracoastal. A short time later, I thought I thought I had hooked a whopper. It was giving me a heck of a fight, then it broke the top. It was a whopper alright, a stingray. You know how hard it is to get your hook out the mouths of those things? They've got barbs all along the tail, and a bone spur, and they whip their tales like crazy. If you don't put your foot on the tail, they'll slice you up. I finally just let the thing die, then I cut it up for bait.
I don't wait to fall in, I love to swim, so I just dive in!!
I do hate hooking myself though, especially with treble hooks!!!

Hey JC, since Ive had the religion change, I havent killed an animal unless it was a mercy killing. Bear can be pretty cruel to what she brings in and I dont like to see them suffer. Though that damn bear (not my cat) that broke in and trashed the house will meet an untimely death. Protection or food, I added mercy killings to that list though.
Have a good one

It's not really hunting season, not the popular once a year season where most of the accidental shootings take place. It is driving season though which kills or injures 300,000 people a year many of whom are fixated on something other than the road.

I have never hunted in my life...Nor do I plan on it. I also don't eat any sort of venision. Although many of my friends do.
...I don't fish either but that's cause I'm scared of worms

200 Lb. Man versus 2 Lb. Duck.
Contest is unequal, so the man arms himself with a 12 guage repeating shotgun.
Man enlists several friends to form duck killing gang.
Still no dead ducks, so man builds a blind to hide in, and shoot from ambush.
No ducks yet, so man spreads decoys, hoping to outsmart some drake confused by lust.
Still no success, so man enlists the aid of 40 Lb. duck hound.
Vision impaired duck approaches, apocalyptic firestorm ensues.
Wife curses, picking 3 pounds of lead out of 2 pounds of duck.
Maybe those bold hunters would be a bit slower to load a ducks downy butt with lead, if they felt a load of in their own behind.

When I hear the wolves howling at night and the cougar scream I'll know my hunting is no longer needed. Til then...any deer or feral hog on my brother's farm is fair game.
Though I understand people not wanting to hunt for themselves, instead paying someone at the slaughterhouse to kill hundreds of animals at a time. Personally I think this brutalizes the slaughterhouse employee much more than my killing one deer a year brutalizes me. But I guess I just care too much.

Poor ducks. Now I like the scene in Crocodile Dundee where he puts on the kangaroo costume and shoots back at the poachers. That's good stuff.
I applaud you Larry, killing animals unless you're hungry is wrong and sadistic. I say to people that like to hunt for sport....let's each go into the woods with our guns and see who comes out. But being the gutless cowards they are, it isn't attractive to them.
Fender's afraid of worms? How threatning is a worm? They don't have teeth, shoot....they don't even have fingernails.
Poor worms.....so misunderstood.

When hunting starts in Michigans U.P. there's 20 hunters pointing their guns on the same damn Deer.
I watched one buck get shot from every angle once. of course he died almost immediately, but even for me, it was shocking. Then there was a bunch of guys arguing over who killed it.
I prefer getting a blind somewhere that there is no other hunters.
