I very rarely post blogs about blogs, in fact looking at my list, I see only one, so that shows you how many times I have done that. But today I feel the need to post another.
Most of the bickering on the blogs is mainly about politics, and you just know the second you see the title, you know there’s going to be conflict.
No amount of arguing is ever going to change a person’s views who has been the same political persuasion for years,
People believe what they want to, some wrong in others eyes, but to them, its what they choose to follow and believe, sure, people can debate civilly, but unfortunately this only happens on occasion.
My solution?
I see it as either 2 ways.
Either A, MD stops all political blogs, thus stopping any conflict from arising.
Or B, if one sees a political blog that one really does not agree with, either comment civilly, or don’t comment at all and leave the political blogs alone.
People wont change their views by being nasty or hurtful, so what’s the point in arguing?
Take away political blogs, take away the Dem and Reps issues and what are you left with?
People.
People coming together on a site to share with friends and have a good time, take away the labels of political persuasion, and all you have left is people trying to live their lives the same as all the rest.
Lets stop the divide between political parties, and be what we come here for in the first place,
People, friends, and good times.
That’s just my thoughts anyway.

Take them away, and you'll have politically motivated blogs about every issue, with cheap attempts to cover up the political motivation behind them.
At least this way is honest, and therefore easier to avoid if you don't like it.

That's the best (funniest) comment I've seen all day ! Funny AND true! some people will always find something to argue about..
But I think the political blogs outweigh the ammount of religous blogs posted.

The last few political blogs ended up pretty funny with both parties actually having a good time, so I see no problem. The discussions on both sides had some great viewpoints even tho we had to agree to disagree. However, if a person doesn't like politics, just stay the heck away from the political blogs and don't read them, that way you don't have to worry about becoming offended. You have a choice here, so choose to read poems and other blogs about the weather or something so your feelings don't get hurt or something. That will solve that problem Charli, the same with blogs that might be on the Dark side or religion or any other blog one might complain about, DON'T READ THEM...........IT'S YOUR CHOICE. HELLO???? DUHHH. Lost.

I say just leave them in the forums where they belong.. I'm in agreement with Legacy on this issue. First & foremost, as staff from MD has reminded us, blogs are to be stand alone postings. As someone commented here about the political blogs comments turning into discussions...discussions are supposed to be held in the forums.
Yes, to read or not to read is all about choice. MY choice, 9 out of 10 times is not to read the b.s. most of the politicos on here post. IMO, most of them are full of hot air. Then, there are the people who make nasty, snide comments about their opposing political party with no thought or care whose toes they might be stepping on or whose face they might be slapping.
Yes, I personally was told by one of those people if I wanted to sever a friendship due to politics it was my prerogative. The reason I decided to sever the friendship was that the person didn't care how rude they were or who they hurt with their words. It had nothing to do with their political believes. It was all about their rude manners.
Frankly, I don't care what another person's political beliefs are. It's like you said, Charli...no amount of arguing is going to change a person's views....and why would someone want everyone to have the same views.
Thanks for making another post that perhaps will cause some of these people to stop & think.

In between all the fighting, there's is real truth's that are being said.
Debating is a learning process, though some only want to hear their own voice, but real debating is about putting forth your best challenge and being unafraid to have it challenge or beaten. If one take this approach, they will actually learn something from it.

Yup Ed I agree, I have left relationships because ppl couldn't tell the difference between a debate by taking it personally. I mean if every time someone bashed Bush and I felt they personally bashed me, and my skin was so thin I couldn't take it, I'd be in a sorry state of affairs that's for sure. You just can't take politics so seriously on a personal level, after all the politicians really don't care about you, I don't think anyways, they are pretty self serving, you can only vote for the better of the two evils. Take care Lost

It is a lot like a dog fight. They will keep it up until one runs away.
The big mistake is to put your hand into it.
It seems to bother us folks from Mars less than you from Venus.

None of us are forced to read or comment on anything we don't want to. And does it really matter if there is conflict or fighting? It really doesn't. Me personally, i like to know the people who don't remotely share my views. I will use it for future reference in case i ever do decide to date people from MD. Many of the people who i argue with in a blog still email me and say hello everyday. I had one lady i tore up and she and i still chat all the time. We don't agree with each other at all, but i really like her.
It's not doing any harm. We have the option to ignore anything we want.
