There have been many incidents in my life that have molded me and changed me, and there was more than one time as a child that I came close to drowning, but this one time was different.
I was about ten years old and the family was enjoying a day at the beach on the Atlantic. My older sister and I were romping at the edge of the water as children do. She is five years older than I and she, at the time, was laughing and playing with some new friends, and didn't notice when an undertow came and swept my little feet out from under me.
One big difference this third time was the fact that my grandfather was not on the shore that day.He had been the one in the past that had been watching during the first two experiences. One had happened when I was two and the row boat we started to take out on the river that day capsized. The other happened at the coast when I was 8. It was my first undertow experience and on my third time down, he grabbed me.
Anyway, back to this third episode. When my feet went up, I panicked~~~ trying to grab on to anything, even the water, but of course~~~ there was nothing.
Now, at this point, you may want to tune out. If you don't believe in praying, or God, or a higher power, or anything for that matter~~~~ but I prayed and prayed like I never had before, and what seemed like minutes of praying, had to be a split second and no more. I believe till this day that I was "spoken" to, and loudly!!
I was told to go under the water and dig my fingers and toes in to the sand as hard as I could and crawl that way, keeping my head under, until I could stand up!!! No one on this earth had ever taught me to do that. I was too young to have read about it and since then, honestly~~~ I have never heard of anyone saving themselves that way.
I obvoiusly listened to that voice, or I would not be here to write this blog or anything else!!
I still have not learned to swim and do have a fear of the water, but feel that when I am ready there are ways that I can learn.
I also DO still always try to listen to that voice that is always looking out for me.
Thanks for reading!!!!!!!!!

I have heard that voice too many times in my life. It has always been a quiet voice...seemingly from out of nowhere.
Sometimes I feel a presence guiding me. I think it is always there but sometimes I choose to ignore it.
I can call it any name I want but the fact remains it is always there and I can access it whenever I choose.
I am never alone.

This blog reminded me about the time I spent at a park adjacent to the Columbia River. I was wading in the river (water half way up my shins) then a large cargo ship passed in front of me and turned up the sand with its propellers. I immediately dropped down halfway up to my chest. I thought that I was going to go deeper over my head...... a live water-mud burial but I guess that God has other plans for me. I have escaped many death situations luckily, I often wonder why.
I must have a guardian spirit.
