do this... don't do that.... can't you read the signs?

There are signs everywhere ! Quoted from the movie “Fools Rush In”

I've heard it often and had the pleasure of experiencing “signs” a time or two myself. Just this past week was such a case.... what a joy.... such a smile and lightening of heart it brought to my being.

Some time ago my oven went out and I began the search for a new stove. I have always wanted a double oven. Years ago I had my stove with an overhead microwave, which was nice, but always wished I'd gotten the double oven like me sister-in-law did instead.... Ahhhhhh..... but what I really want is a double oven and the microwave... all lined up in a row... Yep.... I want it all ! So.... I started the online search. GOOD GAWD !!!! The prices of appliances these days!!!! $2000 + for a double oven ! I know convection is the BIG THING these days, and so is stainless, but I can live without convection for something that offers me a little more comfort in my budget.

Next I decided to look at Lowe's. And....... there it was..... the stove of my dreams (well almost) I wasn't real crazy about the design.... but it had two ovens AND a griddle in the center AND was more like $1300 on sale instead of the $2000+ I'd been seeing. Only one of the ovens was convection and self cleaning. I think I would have rather had an extra burner in the center... but a griddle is nice and the price was a good one for what I was getting! Not necessarily what I wanted to pay, but a "good price". “Now,” said the salesman..... “.... over here we have the microwave to match.” Holy cow ! I was thinking along the lines of the $225 micro I saw rather than the $450 he was showing me. But.... it's the “New & Improved” of course and “matches” of course. So..... I'd have to give this some thought as well the fact that I'd have to have the overhead cupboard cut down to accommodate the new set up. (Another $150 or so) At this point I was looking at close to $2000 on this venture. Most of my cars have cost less!

So I pondered...... (something I do often). For more than a couple of weeks I pondered. I had a handyman come out and look at the cupboard.... he didn't have the tools for cutting it down... it's a pretty standard cupboard, but he couldn't find a matching replacement... and I pondered some more.

Finally... I decided.... I'm worth it!!! (as they say in the Loreal commercials) and went back to pay for my stove. In the meantime the handyman (who is so darn cute btw) found someone to cut down my cupboard... so I don't have to worry about things not matching. Still $2000 is a lot of $$$$ for me to put out on a stove.

But.... I DO deserve it!!! I was feeling pretty darn good about myself and getting the set up of my dreams.

Back out to Lowe's to order the stove and take final measurements to be sure for the cupboard.......

“What do you MEAN they sold my stove????” My $1300 stove on sale that new will cost me more like $1600 at best!!!! ?????

But SOLD it was!!!!

The nice salesman proceeded to show me another stove that he had on clearance. Black, not stainless... (I was pretty much set on stainless at this point even though I have always said.... I don't like stainless because of finger prints) I had gotten used to the idea of of the griddle in the middle rather than the simmer burners they have now... OH.... but this stove has a full fledge cooking burner in the center.... A 5 BURNER STOVE..... wooooo.....hoooooo !!!!

Bottom line...

The new stove I was looking at happens to be about $300 less than the 1st
The salesman also pointed out that the first stove didn't have a regular temperature control on the 2nd oven which would NOT have made me at all happy once I found out (mistake the 1st salesman made)
I like the design of this stove better
I didn't have to get the high fluting microwave I really don't need...
I can get the $225 micro... now reduced to $150

The total package has just come down by about $600 from what I thought I was going to have to spend and about $100 less than I had hoped to spend.

Now... about the signs.... everywhere there's signs !

If God takes such good care of us in such frivolous matters as double ovens and microwaves... why just THINK how much more he cares about those things that REALLY matter!!! Like our kids, our family, homes, health and finances !!!!

I know this is not a new concept... “He knows every hair on our head”..... “His Eye is on the Sparrow... and I Know He Watches Me” But when we get to see the signs... 1st hand.. how wonderful it is!!! How much it can lift our hearts and spirits when we can “See the Signs.”

I had mine this week and what good timing it was. I hope you are blessed with the ability to “see the signs” God has for you.

Thank you for reading.

I definitely believe in signs, it's nice to have gotten a deal on what you needed. I saw some stainless refrigerators the other day priced at approximately $2,000 and I was thinking, just something to refrigerate your food? That seems steep. I have a basic white fridge and a stove which is at least 21 years old. If I could afford a new one, I'd get one without the burner coils, one I can clean easier. Ahhhhh, to dream lol.

Now go to the post office and tell them you may wish to have your mail forwarded when you go on vacation. They will give you a change of address packet. Inside there will be several coupons for Lowes which will give you an additional 10% off your next purchase. If you don't find what you want at Lowes, Home Depot will honor the Lowes coupon as well.
