Besides sitting right here in front of this screen yesterday on the first day of my fourth of july weekend......my daughter and her boyfriend came home and took me out to a camp ground where one of my daughters friends father was staying for a cook out and fishing.... its about ahalf hour away from my house.....and it was just beautiful out there....in fact.....in a year or two...im gonna pull a trailer out there and have myself a weekend getaway....ive been looking for a place like this for years....close to the house.....i could even go out there after work.....so we get out there and are greeted by this hot little number on a quad runner....i turn to my daughters BF and say....this just keeps on getting better....but then...my daughter says.....dad...take a closer look.....shes a far away girl.....and sure enough...my daughter was right......from far away...she looked great...but up close....shes just a big old mess.....my daughters words.....not mine....so we sign in and get out to this guys camper...but hes not there.....so we unload the car and start to cook out.....he gets there about an hour later...and weve got everything cooked....ive meet him before...but its been a few years.......so we have a nice meal together and walk down to the lake.....the fish are jumping everywhere.....cant wait to drop a line in this water....but then....this guy tells us we are going on the other side of the lake where the fishing is better....so we end up getting back in the cars and i follow him down a gravel road im sure covered wagons once rode down....rough as hell.....two cars of us......so we get where we are going and unload the cars and we split into two groups.....me my daughter and her boyfriend and my daughters friend......and the other....the friends father his other daughter and her boyfriend.....and we start to get ready to fish....now my fishing gear hasnt seen the lite of day in over three years.....and normally....i get it out in the spring time and make sure everything is in working order and check my two tackle boxes for anything i might need....but this time...i went out in the garage...got it together and thru it in the back of my SUV....six poles all tangled together with hooks and bobbers.......took me an hour just to seperate them...and even then....i had to take out a knife and cut them loose in the end....bought two dozen night crawers at the camp store when we got there.....so i hand my daughter her pole and tell her to grab a worm and lets start fishing....well.....she takes off the lid and grabs one and it starts willieworming in her hand.....so she drops it and screams....lets out a scream that was worthy of one of the friday the thirteen movies... even scared the hell out of me...cause i was right beside her....now ive taken my daughter fishing before.....when she was younger....so this shouldnt be a problem....but for some reason.....it is.....i pick up the worm she dropped on the ground and show her how to bait a hook again on my pole....i ease the worm from one end on my hook...threading it to the top.....and then pinch off the worm about right in the middle....my daughter screams again.....tell her one more scream....and somebodies gonna call the cops.......just when did my daughter become such a candy -ass........i sure didnt raise her this way......so i told her id bait her first hook...then...shes on her own.....told her to watch again......i bait it and hand her the pole.....but shes not watching me.....shes tring to pick out a pretty bobber out of my tackel box.......again...her words.......but she finds one and i attach it and hand her the pole to cast it out....and she looks at me again...clueless......so i show her how to cast it out.....looking for her boyfriend.....but hes down the bank fishing......so as soon as her line hits the water.....the bobber goes right down.....and she screams again.....i tell her to set the hook...as im tring to get my line in the water......she looks at me again......clueless.......so i show her how......and before long..everybodies fishing.....but her bobbers not bobbin......so i tell her to reel it back in......sure enough...no worm....so shes looking at me again.....so i yell for jake....the boyfriend.......but hes got his line caught up in a tree...and hes fighting a life or death match with it....so i bait it one more time.....and she casts it out once more......i felt the line...the hook...with the worm ...graze the side of my face on the way out......sorry daddy....she says.....her bobber goes down again......she sets the hook.....and pulls in a nice hand sized blue gill.....of course...out comes her cell phone and she takes pictures.....well...we caught a few more....let them all go....and as we are packing up at the end of the day......dennis...the father staying out there tells me......come back again early sunday morning........alone.......and we can fish again......sounds like a plan to me.........cookie
