You know someone is real important when they have a cell phone. I see people get in their car and back out the driveway and the first thing they do is get on the phone. I never been hit by a drunk driver nor had a close call with one but 10 times a day I have near misses with these important people on their cell phone. First I would like to say if your on your cell phone 24/7 your not that freaken important. Important people don’t need a cell phone. If 10 cars are on the road 5 of the drivers are talking on their cell phones. What the hell are these people talking about that’s so god damn important?.
What would these people do if their doctor was operating on them while talking to friends on the phone?. These people have absolutely no respect for the safety of other drivers on the road. Driving around in a deadly weapon talking on the god damn phone. Yeah, yeah, he he , ha ha while driving a ton of steel at 70 miles per hour. Pure genius let me tell ya.
Everybody all for banning smoking in a bar but driving a missile while talking on the phone AOK. Can’t smoke on a public beach in Michigan anymore but if you want to cruise on down the road in your 3 ton Hummer yakking with friends on the phone well you must be real important. I think I’ll take my chances with second hand smoke. I mean at least I’ll see 70 something instead of being run over at an early age by an all important person on a all important phone call. People make a choice to go to a smoke filled bar. I don’t know anyone who wakes up one day and decides to get run over or ran into by a crazed maniac on his or her cell phone.
Did you know that 3,200 people a year are killed by drivers on cell phones and 350,000 accidents are caused by the same in the United States. Those stats are most likely low because how many drivers admit they caused an accident by talking on the phone. What did people do before cell phones?, blow smoke signals and beat drums for christ sakes. I mean this is out of control gang. People running stop signs, stop lights, cutting you off and driving 70mph while talking on the phone.
In closing,
We make absolutely no sense in this country anymore. Many States want to raise the driving age to 18 because the maturity levels of those younger is less then humm desirable. I see, they’re not mature enough to drive a car but freaken 800,000 of them are spitting out kids one after another. I look at people on their cell phones driving a car like useless human trash. You have totally no respect for my life nor your own. These people remind of a next door neighbor that never cuts their lawn or picks up the garbage driving your property value down into dirt. Totally no respect. Worst offenders are women. I see more women chatting on the phone then men. Many with kids in the car. Please do all of us responsible a favor. Before you get into your car turn your god damn phone off or leave it at home.
Yours Truly,
Supremebeing

I agree whole heartedly, with the exception of this....there is something worse than talking on a mobile while driving, albeit closely related: texting while driving.
I've come very close to literally fist fighting with my friend for this same crap. Nothing like seeing cars coming straight at you instead of at an angle.
In some areas, it is illegal to use a cell phone while driving, but I don't believe it's enforced properly, if at all.

No smart-azz comments this time..I agree about the cell phones. I detest them, myself, and have had one only 5 mins. I came out of the electronics store...laid it on the roof to unlock the car, and never saw it again. That told me enough...
The amount of deaths on the road attributed to cell phones, alone, is horrendous.
I would rather put my makeup on while driving, then talk on the phone.

Watch the movie .. 7 lbs. and you will see the devastation using a cell phone can cause... it may not have been the obvious overtone of the movie, but it was the largest poignant part of the movie and what it caused.
I have had some pretty close calls with people on cells.. to the point where I was the one that was shaken so badly I had to pull over before I could continue.
I've said it before.. if anyone I care about is ever hurt by anyone on a cell you can bet your bottom line that I will make that one cell phone driver face the consequence.. I will ask the court that he/she follow or witness what pain and devastation their actions caused.

Well since all are in agreement with you Long I guess I'll be the fly in the ointment. I see a benefit from those using cellphones while driving. If you can manage to avoid them while they are all over the road, they are too occupied with the phones to take the time for "road rage" and blow your ass away.

For once a blog from you I can totally agree with you...
It frosts my azz to be behind some fool with a cellphone to his ear driving 30 mph in a 50 mph zone.. or the joker on his cellphone that cruises through a traffic light (I almost got t-boned by a person busy talking on a cellphone and not paying attention behind the wheel.. At least they've taken a baby step in my state by making texting illegal while driving..
It makes you wonder how anyone EVER survived on this planet before cellphones came along.. How did we ever get along having wait to get home or look for a pay phone to make a call to someone..
