No, I'm not talking about staying out of depression or getting healthy or the power of positive thinking. No, I 'm actually referring to the long lost art of feeling well. Truth be told. Most people don't actually know how to feel their own feelings very well. What people actually think is feeling their feelings is actually the subtle art of deflection, and transferrence. And I mean no disrespect to anyone out there, because most of us have never been taught how to feel our feelings well. The process is actually quite simple. Just feel. Don't write about it, don't talk about it and don't avoid it. Just sit down for as long as you can and just let the feelings be present inside of you. That's all you have to do. Just let them be. They will pass, perhaps not quickly in the beginning. No, most of us have a life long supply of crap in memory banks that's never been processed. Don't be surprised if you can't actually do it for very long in the beginning it takes practice, especially when it comes to feelings about things we cannot control. The economy, politics, religion, and death are all things for which their is little you can do about the big picture. Of course, before I get a bunch of comments about how it's sometimes necessary or not practical to sit around feeling your feelings, let me say this. Of course, we can't sit around all day feeling our feelings, but there are times where life requires it. Not to mention that if you practice and get good at feeling your feelings well, you will feel more positive, have less depression, and eventually reach the point where you just feel well all the time. Quite literally, once we learn to feel well it can be done most of the time without actually thinking about it. Oh, and one final important thing. How will you know that you are feeling well. You'll feel things, even some very difficult things with a gentle grace.

Very wise words. I agree, we don't allow ourselves to be in touch with our feelings. I think we put up barriers, well....it can be a scary thing getting in touch with those feelings and really finding out the true way you feel.

Very good advice.

This is very insightful, and I liked reading it. I think we often shove our feelings back further and further thinking we will deal with them later, when we are less "busy" or less "confused." However, if the truth be known....we fear looking in that mirror, humbling ourselves, truly knowing ourselves.

Anyway, just sharing my thoughts, lol!

Good blog and thanks!
