MSG, or Monosodium glutamate, is an additive that food manufacturers are putting in food.. and a whole lot of food! And it isnt always listed as such either, often listed as being 'natural flavour enhancers, natural flavourings, even as spices.
What does it do?
It tricks the brain in to thinking what you are eating is delicious.
If someone coated cardboard with MSG, then fed it to you blindfold you'd think YUMMMMMYYYYY!!!!
But.. the constant interference of brain function is causing many side effects.
Oh yes.. theres side effects.
MSG (and exitotoxins) side effects may include seizures, brain cell and damage, allergies, rashes, asthma attacks, headaches, and brain tumors.
It has also recently been linked to the worsening of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.
Now Im going to really raise your eyebrows and tell you where its found!!!!
Soups and broths, sauces, gravies, and flavoring and spice blends. MSG is also present in a variety of processed foods such as canned and frozen meats, fish, poultry, vegetables, TV dinners, dressings, ketchup, mayonnaise, soy sauce, sausages, snacks, such as potato chips, some processed cheeses, and soup powders and cubes.
No wonder we're all going nuts!

I'll have to admit, the cardboard had a nice, appealing texture.

MSG is definately problematic for me. Large quantities give me a "heat flash" and if it is really heavy I get hives. Chinese food is the worst. Josh and I take alot of crap for the lifestyle we live, but for me it got to the point where I was toxic...sick all the time....and it turned out to primarily be garbage in the food and water. Once I started filtering all my water, and watching everything I ate for chemicals, I got to feeling better. The worst thing about it I have become almost intolerable to junk food, my system got cleaned out to the extent I don't have a tolerance anymore. The least little bit makes me ill. No more grabbing a burger when we go to town.

Me and MSG aren't very good friends. I blogged about it HERE
The industry has disguised MSG into other product names. Try reading the contents of Healthy Favorites soup HERE

Good old MSG and it's best friend, HFCS.....aka high fructose corn syrup.
You must look carefully to find food without these. It's actually quite simple.....
As Charli stated, it tricks the mind, while at the same time causing health problems....high blood pressure and onset diabetes are some more......and it's cheaper to use as additives.
So the food companies get richer, as do the insurance, pharmaceutical and medical entities.
Terrorism has many faces.

Wow I believe you have just given some an idea of how to get rid of their mate legally and they are probably online right now trying to find out where to buy a few bottles of it to sprinkle it on each and every meal they serve lol. Still thanks for the information, my garden has just started to produce and it's great to be able to have fresh juicy veggies now, I didn't realize how much I really liked them. It was so much cheaper to plant and is so much better for you. I canned my first pickled cucumber/peppers and they turned out great (patting myself on the back), I've not made them before. But you can bet I'm gonna do it from now on. Take care Lost

If you order Chinese food with no msg this doesn't necessarily mean your food will not have msg in it. Much of the factory prepared food they bring in has msg in it. Press them for an answer and you may get the truth. I told them I am so allergic I would die. To them no msg may mean no added msg.

Thank you for information Charli.,yes it really effects our body in many ways.and who knows it migth make good combination with something else too .
I don't care if some people say it won't effect our health ,maybe they 're born to love MSG.
If we cook fresh meat or fish we really don't need MSg it taste good itself, good cook don't need it.,it's delicious naturally ,and good eater know how good of food without MSG.
For the brain I think Cefeine in tea coffee or any soft drink is worse than a little MSG in our body as we don't eat food like that too often
One myth in my original country, they said if you're pregnant woman and you eat alot of MSG your baby will have bold head or less hair

Chinese restuarants use a lot of MSG.
I usually ask, but a lot of them lie about it. It is easy to tell, though. If they use it, I usually leave the meal splattered on the parking lot. If I can, I try to leave it in front of the front door, as a warning to other patrons.
