Capitalism and consumerism have brought the world to the brink of economic and environmental collapse, the Prince of Wales has warned in a grandstand speech which set out his concerns for the future of the planet.
The heir to the throne told an audience of industrialists and environmentalists at St James's Palace last night that he had calculated that we have just 96 months left to save the world.
And in a searing indictment on capitalist society, Charles said we can no longer afford consumerism and that the "age of convenience" was over. Gee...96 months huh? I better prepare so I've got all my ducks lined up in a row, so when that 97th month comes along...I'm gonna be shittin in high cotton!
This sounds a lot like...the Earth is only a couple thousand years old type of statement to me?
Does anyone really listen anymore to this Womanizing Pompous ASS?
Hey Chuck...I've got an idea. How about you close down all those Castles you and the rest of your herd live in and save England millions.. What a damn MORON!

The royal family costs the British tax payer a huge amount of money each year, however any alternative would probably cost just as much, if not more ... at least what the royal family spend is public knowledge. I'm not a royalist but would rather live in a society with a royal family with a conscience rather than a dictatorship or similar.
Prince Charles has a job to do and often gives an opinion which if he were a common man like most would be considered wise. I don't think many consider the world he's been brought up in, of course he doesn't completely understand the needs of the common man because he's never had the chance to live as we do, but at least he tries to find some kind of understanding. Most royal residences aren't lived in on a regular basis by the royal family, they're now legitimate businesses in that they are open to the general public for view, a real favourite with tourists, particularly from the States. All the so-called Lords and Ladies of old in the UK who own stately homes have been unable to maintain their properties and now live in one or two rooms whilst the the rest is open to public view or used for social functions at a price. There is no longer a British Empire style nobility in the UK, any idea of this is a myth.
It's ridiculous to say the royal family should give up their way of life, that would mean dissolving the monarchy, which would then give rise to an alternative, this is hardly a decision for Charles to make, or the Queen for that matter, it would be up to the people and we've not been asked to make that decision yet. I agree totally with what he says, we've lived too long in a consumerist world which has left so many in debt and poverty. There is more to life than a new car or sofa, these things are completely pointless if the planet isn't being taken care of and takes it's revenge.
Perhaps you should live in the UK for a while. I watched an episode of the Simpsons earlier containing more myths about the UK than you can shake a stick at, of course the makers of the programme knew that when they made it, but unfortunately most Americans don't.
Interesting if irritating blog. I respect your right to a view even if I don't agree. Thanks for posting.

Al Gore said on January 29, 2006 we had ten years left. The Pope said when Attilia the Hun was coming - the end was near. The Europeans said when the Vikings raided the end was near. In the 1960-1980 some people said the end was near. In the late 1930 and early 1940 people said the end is near with Hitler. And last but not least Chicken Little said the sky is falling. PLEEEEEASE, the Prince should go out and get a real life.
