Ive worked in healthcare most of my life.....almost twentyfive years now.....and i know the economy is bad......but this problem seems to be getting worse everyday.....at least where i work.......they brought in people to streamline our jobs.....saving money is important and i understand this.....and ive always believed that if people are doing their jobs...we automatically make those above us look good.....in fact...better than they deserve.....but its looked upon as these people brought in have done something magical...and without them...it would have never happened....what the problem has been...weve went from great management.....the best boss ive ever had......to outside management.....and now back to inside management....and every step of the way.....our department has suffered....and now......people are worried about keeping their jobs.....so now the boot licking is done in plain sight of everybody.....at staff meetings.....everywhere i look....and im one of the lucky ones.....i get to go out on the floors and do my job....so the only time i see it is when i come back to our department....or at manditory staff meetings.....where they reward each other for a job well done.....but the problem is.....they reward managers and supervisiors.....and a few that ass kiss their way to recieve this small reward.....and all its good for is to trade it in on hospital wear.....that you can advertise where you work on your own time.....by wearing it around......when i came back to our department today....just before clocking out and going home.....a coworker came up to me and was telling me about all the ass kissing i missed by just about an hour before.....how one manager says something.....and hes got several techs laughing and telling him how right he is.....and the laughter is of the forced faking kind.....and you see that the person recieving this is just eating it up.....im just so glad i dont have to be in our department to see it going on all day long.....watching it builds up inside of me so bad.....that im about to say something to somebody and get myself in trouble....and thats the last thing i ever want to do here.....it could mean my job.....and right now....i could never afford that.....so i go about my day......avoiding being around this......doing my job......and hopping things get better soon.....some say that your job is just that.....but one spends 40 hours or more doing that job.....and when you look around you and see whats going on.....it makes it that much harder to be there and do it week after week.....ass kissing use to be something that you would be made fun of doing....something to be ashamed of......but now...in this economy.....it seems like a way of everyday life.....and for me.....even though i dont do it.....watching it done...leaves a bad taste in my mouth.......cookie
