I think it is very important that children should be taught at an early age the difference between appropriate touching and inappropriate touching.

Unfortunately many parents tend to shy away from discussions of sex with their children..leaving them vulnerable to attack from pedephiles. Later in life these same uniformed children become pregnant or aquire serious sexually transmitted diseases such as AID's

If the parents aren't going to take the responsibility for informing their children about sex then sex education in schools is necessary.

For some strange reason our society has deemed it necessary to reduce sex to something that should be snickered at or talked about in hushed tones. Just like the topic of Death...it is very seldom ever talked about around the kitchen table or anywhere else for that matter.

Kids need to be armed with knowlege about the reality of unwanted pregnacies and dangerous diseases otherwise they simply end up learning the hard way..

You disgust me. How sick suggesting that kids should be educated, particularly on the subject of a word I dare not say but thats spelt S E C K S.

I want you to go and wash your mouth out now.

Has anyone else told you that you have a potty mouth?

I am expecting further RIGHT thinking people to back me up here.

I guess you didnt notice....

Since they started 'educating' the kids on sex.....they are having MORE of it..and having way MORE illegitimate babies..

So tell me...is it working?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
At least one in four teenage American girls has a sexually transmitted disease, suggests a first-of-its-kind federal study that startled some adolescent-health experts.
Some doctors said the numbers might be a reflection of both abstinence-only sex education and teens' own sense of invulnerabilty. Because some sexually transmitted infections can cause infertility and cancer, U.S. health officials called for better screening, vaccination and prevention.
PPPLLLEEZZZEE..Are they really trying to blame all this on abstinace teaching?
When I was young..WE ALL WERE ABSTINATE...very few girls got pregnant...No stds...
There was NO planned parenthood then...and things were definatly ALOT BETTER.
Only about half of the girls in the study acknowledged having sex. Some teens define sex as only intercourse, yet other types of intimate behavior including oral sex can spread some diseases.
Among those who admitted having sex, the rate was even more disturbing — 40 percent had an STD.
40% had an STD? WOW.... When I was young..and there was NO sex ed and people actually controlled themselves..we didnt have these problems.. Progression? I dont think so...lol..its more like backwards evolution.
"To talk about abstinence is not a bad thing," but teen girls — and boys too — need to be informed about how to protect themselves if they do have sex, Alderman said.
Before sex ed..the illegitimate birth rate was next to nill..and STDS were VERY rare..
"Those numbers are certainly alarming," said sex education expert Nora Gelperin, who works with a teen-written Web site called sexetc.org. She said they reflect "the sad state of sex education in our country."
Sad state of sex ed? What more can they do to those kids? Thats IS he problem...to much sex in every segment of this society..its every where....kids are CONSTANTLY stimulated by one source of another..
We are suffering a break down of morality in this society..thus...a breakdown of this nation and its peoples.
Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, said the study shows that "the national policy of promoting abstinence-only programs is a $1.5 billion failure, and teenage girls are paying the real price."
What a bunch of liberal biased crap....ITs the liberal thinking that is causing these problems...what a bunch of liars.
The teens were tested for four infections: human papillomavirus, or HPV, which can cause cervical cancer and affected 18 percent of girls studied; chlamydia, which affected 4 percent; trichomoniasis, 2.5 percent; and genital herpes, 2 percent.
When I was young..in the 70's...there were only 3 STD's...BEFORE sex education came to town..
The truth is...all this focus on sex..has caused all these problems..
And its not abstinance education..
Its a total breakdown of morality in this society....
Broken homes...lonely children...parents to busy pursuing money rather than taking care of their childrens emotional needs.
Just look at the kids these days....They are huge fat...They are depressed....
Even with all this sexual liberation...the society is depressed and lost..
So much for liberalism....
When I was young..in the 70's...there were only 3 STD's...BEFORE sex education came to town...So much for liberalism.....
with the internet, sex in advertising, x-rated movies, and cell phones.... kids have sex rammed down their throats all the time... And for these reasons they need sex education early in life.
none of this was available in the 70's. ISP can restrict much more than they do, why dont they.... greed and money. movies could be clean cut, why arent they... greed and money. advertises dont need to include sex to sell their products, why dont they.... greed and money. the same applies to cell phones.
and since these are the worlds values and standards these days parents have a much harder job of educating their kids on many levels... not only sex.
after all this, what does liberalism have to do with it? nothing... except people with liberal views see these problems and prepare their kids for an ever changing future... its the only way. those who sweep it under the rug are in for a rougher road.
all i can say is, thank God i dont have kids... cos they would have produced grandkids and then some more generations.... all parents are in for a rough ride so they better prepare their kids. who knows what is next
just sayin'
Hmm. Interesting. That makes me a what was it? Oh. A "perv".
That's the problem with single-celled organisms...they don't have room for much.
After reading your comment here, I have concluded that you are to be avoided like the plague.
A shining example of why some of these so-called politicians have been allowed to rape, defile, violate and destroy our planet, our country and our concept of government.
You're Republican? No you're not. I bet you couldn't tell us five true core fundamentals of Republicanism without Googling it. It's the same with all of you.
There's nothing wrong with Republicans either. I'm originally from Alabama. I love Bob Riley. Stellar example of a Republican.
First Republican President? Abraham Lincoln. Yeah! That guy that liberated the slaves...a Republican! I know!!
Where do you people get your skewed, misquoted and contextually malformed information from? In short, I don't need to go back to school...I'm EDUCATED...in all areas and yes, my redneck, backwoods, hillbilly state provided a sexual education course that I had to take and no, ma'am I DID NOT
You are absolutely right though madam...
It's backwards evolution...just not in the way you think.
I need to pay attention to which buttons I'm clicking. Grrr...
To finish wasting space on Borty's excellent blog here.
Since they started 'educating' the kids on sex.....they are having MORE of it..and having way MORE illegitimate babies..
No ma'am, I DID NOT run right out and have promiscuous and unprotected sex. I DID NOT spill my seed in the bellies of whores and have lots and lots of little babies illegitimately either. I have no STDs because I WAS educated in protection.
In fact, I didn't lose my virginity until I was 21. I shit you not.
Sex Ed is creating this problem, you implied?? Bullshit. Another "claim" with no actual data to back up that Sex Ed is the cause...typical.
All of your little Daddyless babies are a direct product of stupid and uneducated people making illogical and uninformed decisions. Abstinence is merely one choice for people who do not want to live in a country or a society that tells them what they can and cannot do with their bodies. If you want that, I hear there are many Fascist and Neo-Fascist countries out there that would gladly accept your citizenship so feel free to defect if Mr. Obama's way of things is not to your liking. He's your President and if you feel that much animosity towards him...you have a choice. You all have a choice.
Move...
I hate the expression "Love it or leave it!". I hate it. I'm not implying that notion either. I'm just saying that no one is holding these people who spout this venom and vomit this hate-filled rhetoric hostage. You are free...to walk away from it.
And...
Surely you're not saying you've gone all 54 years of your life without having sex or sex out of wedlock are you?
Done now.
How is this a dem problem only,geez.
Now, that's quite dumb, did we forget, Palin daughter?
You can't compare today to the past, things are quite different like dizzy said.
Now, limited discussion are fine at certain ages, giving more details as they grow.
This problem has more to do with poor parenting, with parents crushing kids self-esteem, unwatched kids and let's video raise their children and host other bad habits parent do.
Then add in all the visual sex ad being thrown at these kids, who placing these ads and providing the internet growth adults.
I grew up in the 70's. Sex ed taught us that a man has a penis and a woman has a vagina. That was about it. I experimented at 13!!!! What was a condom? No need for what I didn't learn about. Yes I did get more than one disease at a very young age. One that landed me in the hospital fighting for my life at 14! I was not the only female although I may be one of the few to admit it. The only thing innocent and pure about the 70's lived in the adult mind's of people that thought sex was to remain quiet, hushed, tell the kids that sex is icky and they will believe it. This from the same people who told us to believe in Santa and the Easter Bunny! The word bastard was not created AFTER sex ed began.
My kids were taught through a book by me at a young age. We can say penis, vagina, vulva, breast, testicles, etc. as easily as we can say arm, leg, eye, etc. Peepee, wewe, boobie, balls, etc. are not allowed any more than the term f*cking is.
At 13 my son was told if he wanted to masturbate to please use a towel and throw it in the wash. At 3 my son was told if he wanted to "play" with his penis to do it away from the family. Not because it was bad but because it was private. At 16 & 18 I talk openly about my STD's. How my sister had a baby at 16 (born in 1971) My kids mane and female have practiced potting Condoms on a bottle in front of me as we talked. Their condoms are bought by me and my daughter is on the pill at 16 plus has condoms. I am not advocating sex, they know that it feels great when it is with the right person. By the right person I mean someone they are willing to die for as AIDS is everywhere. Ignorance does not mean bliss and the "just say no" worked so well with drugs.
To this day my children are 100% virgins. Best of all they are proud of it even though some of their friends tease them. Even the friend who has herpes. I doubt he was educated even though he gets straight A's in school.
At 48 I still hear people bragging about their sexual conquests or talking about finding "some". Maybe this is because they grew up in the 70's where the word sex was taboo and missed the education part.
I grew up on Road Runner and Bugs Bunny but didn't turn out to be a hunter. In fact I am the opposite. Maybe I am a slow learner........................
I have three daughters, 15, 19, and 30 and they are taught to not have sex until they are seriously in love and in a serious relationship. My my older daughters are in their serious relationships now and believe it or not did wait until they were at least the age of 19 which is rare these days. No diseases and use condoms,birth control,and go to a doctor regularly, how do I know? Because we are close and I go with them still, I'm close with my kids and talk to them and have good communication. That's the only way to help your kids understand the importance of staying away from STD's and unwanted pregs. I don't allow my girls to even date until they are at least 16 and then I have to know the guy very well. I'm a pretty strict mom. And there's no sleeping around before they are of age, my older ones didn't go on birth control until older, I felt it gave them permission to have sex, which I wasn't condoning. They know my rules and if they went against them, they had to sneak around to do it, but I had to put a foundation somewhere. So far it has worked with my older kids, I hope it does with my 15 year old too. Take care Lost
I disagree hero. I grew up in a very 'hush hush' family as far as sex was concerned. My father was a hard core, right wing, conservative, southern baptist minister. My parents haven't had sex since my mother became pregnant with me. Sex was only for procreation as far as they were concerned.
My first sexual knowledge came from a pornographic magazine. I would see the 'money shot' and thought, "Man, why is that guy peeing in that ladies mouth? Is that what sex is all about?" My first sexual experience came before I was 10, though it wasn't actual sex. I kept waiting and waiting on the boy to try and pee on me, but he never did. It was quite, well, awkward...the whole experience.
Needless to say, I crawled out the window at the ripe old age of 15 and crawled back in it pregnant. I wish my parents had been more communicative about sex when I was younger. Not to say that they are or were at all responsible, but kids are going to do what kids do..experiment, and it would be wise to instill in them the proper knowledge in order to protect themselves.
