Most of the mail ive been getting is from some scam artists sitting in Africa.
It happened a few times already, i got mail from some ladies(or i think) and some were from New York or DC and they readily provided me with their IM info to chat with them.. Once you get on chat and you ask them where abouts are you from NY or DC they give a totally different location for example California and then the person happens to be in West africa caring for her sick mother
The profile of the person/s usually is a Caucasian girl in her mid 20's and location is in the US.
How many of you have experienced this

Not just you guy. Since MD is a free dating site, they figure they can find "desperate, love starved" men who is gullible enough to fall for their scams.
Got news for ya...most of those 20-something-year-old-models....well, they are actually guys! They operate out of Ghana, Nigeria, and a couple of other countries in the African west coast regions.
1) Things I've learned...if they are more than 10 years younger than you, beware!
2) If they look like a model, chances are it's fake!
3) If they give you their email/chat address, RUN!
4) If their English is bad, grammetically incorrect, not real!
Ok, I understand that there are some real gals on here that are going to fall into one or more of those catagories, and are sincere. But chances are you won't find them. Also, in many 3 world countries, it is not at all uncommon for a woman to be interested in a man that is 15 years older than her. But are you really looking for a mail order bride? If you're considering it, better read up on all the laws and the expense of it!
Best thing to do is to report it to MD, then block their email. Don't give out your email until you are pretty certain they are legit.
Hope this helps.

It happens to us ladies too. I got one whose profile says he lives in Iowa, but wants to come to this country to meet. Seems there are more scams lately than serious messages.

Hello dear
Hello Queen
Hello Pretty
They usually start out something like that.
If there is an email address ... and there usually IS ... I jot it down to send to another scammer.
Scammer meet scammer.
I like the forums & blogs ... Getting to know people who post regularly ... Pretty darned sure they aren't scammers ...
pretty sure

Happened to me too!
Mine was all in love with me and wanted to meet etc. Thing is he lost his wallet which had 4000 US in it and wanted me to "loan" him some money to get a hotel for the night and for sure we would pay me back when we met--sure and donkeys have wings and fly.

I have a theory on this. I surmised that the Moderators here have a revenue sharing system set up with some of these scammers/spammers. The scammer/spammers advertise their sites via direct links in the messages or through an e-mail address which some poor unsuspecting rubes fall for and use...the Mods/Owners then get a slice of the action. The Mods delete a few profiles to keep up appearances while the spammers/scammers/advertising partners create more new profiles...and so on and so forth.
This place isn't what it used to be. They need all the attention they can get...or else this problem would not be as prevalent.
I have an acquaintance here that said she has received the most spam here than anywhere else and more of it once she became a gold member.
I'm not popular with the Mods or the users here so maybe that's why. Ha!
