Being a health food freak, I knew that there was most likely not many good ingredients that went in to a hot dog, but was never sure what went in to them.. well now I know.. and it isnt good.
Here is a video of health food guru Gillian McKeith, as she shows a hot dog loving couple what exactly is in them.
PLEASE DO NOT click on this video if you are squeamish, or a vegetarian as it may upset you.
Kosher hot dogs by the way, have the same ingredients but from cows instead of pigs, but the not so charming recipe is the same. They have just been carefully prepared and have not had any contact with pork, The ingredients of a beef Kosher hot dog is the same, but from a cow.

Hope it's ok for me to add something. I worked in a slaughterhouse/meat packing facility in the early 90's.
A few Kosher hot dog manufacturers only use beef from the front sections of the cow. Nothing in the "rear" is used. Also, according to rabbinic law, meat must be koshered within 72 hours after slaughter so as not to permit the blood to congeal. I doubt "Ball Park" does this.
Liver and organs are just "thrown-in" when making everyday hot dogs. When it comes to Kosher hot dogs liver must be koshered through broiling, because of the preponderance of blood in it. Both the liver and meat must first be thoroughly washed to remove all surface blood. After broiling, they are rinsed off. Separate utensils have to be used for the koshering of liver.
In addition, the factory must be under strict kashruth supervision. This requirement dictates that rabbinic supervision be maintained until the meat reaches the consumer. In the processing of meat, a metal tag called a plumba, bearing the kosher certification, serves as an identifying seal.
I love Kosher dogs and can definately tell the difference in taste........

Also, from what I understand, it's not very cost friendly to wait and clear out the rats from the grinding machines either. So of course, there will be small traces of rat in some of the early morning batches as well.

Many cultures it a lot of pieces of cow, pig, chicken that we won't touch or eat. In a hot dog you get it in a neat little package..
You should read the books written by John Robbins, (Diet for a new America) son of the owner of Baskin and Robbins. He's a vegetarian. Won't even eat his Dad's ice cream..That book will scare you with the information about what is in our food..
Great Post!

I buy only all beef hotdogs. Something about the addition of beef udders to the mix that just makes them so more tastier than pork dogs.
I refuse to eat turkey dogs. I just don't care for the taste of ground up beaks.
