I have been looking for my tape measure now for two weeks. I have two or three of them around here somewhere. My friends are helpful. They help me look for them and say words they think are comforting. Like.... "it's always the last place you look".
Duh....Of course it is. Why in the world would you keep looking after you've found it? When I look in a place, and it isn't there, I go to another place until I find it. Then of course, when I do find it, that is the last place I look. I just want to slap 'em when they say dumb stuff like that.
I don't know...maybe it's me.....but words are important. The ones I just used as examples are silly, and really of no consequence. But there are others that are. Funny thing about words....once out, they can't be taken back. Maybe we should be more careful which ones come out.
I like words that really do mean something, especially when they mean something to me. Old words interest me it would seem. I am finding great enjoyment in reading about the folks who lived and participated in the creation of our country. Here are a few, written in 1765 that I read last night....it's a great book my parents gave me. They gave it to me quite a few years ago, and now that I have no TV, I am finally reading it.
These words mean as much to me as any I have heard concerning the subject of liberty and the state of our union. They were written by George Washington's Vice President, and our country's second President, John Adams, when he was only around 30 years old.. Carefully written, they should be carefully read.
"Be it remembered, however, that liberty must at all hazards be supported. We have a right to it, derived from our Maker. But if we had not, our fathers have earned and bought it for us, at the expense of their ease, their estates, their pleasure, and their blood. And liberty cannot be preserved without a general knowledge among the people, who have a right, from the frame of their nature, to knowledge, as their great Creator, who does nothing in vain, has given them understandings, and a desire to know; but besides this, they have a right, an indisputable, unalienable, indefeasible, divine right to that most dreaded and envied kind of knowledge, I mean, of the characters and conduct of their rulers."
To me, our present day "rulers" have no conception of their position to which we have appointed them to. They are for the most part corrupt, criminal, greedy, and way over paid. Full of themselves, and practice full time disgraceful behavior. Even to the point of the destruction of their own families, their own children. What kind of men are these? Lest you forget America...we elected them! Just read about the men who signed the Declaration.....read who they were, and what price they paid for their invaluable service. And they received no lifetime health care. No Sir! They served because they loved and believed in freedom so dearly, they were willing to give everything for it.
Here ...I will make it easy for you....
The Declaration's 56 Men
What has happened to "us." ????
I believe it is time to do something. Past time. Maybe even too late......I for one am sick of the lies and deceit. And the loss of so much that was so dearly paid for.
So many in our past have died, suffered, sacrificed and lost everything....so we could let the Washington Weasels squander it away?
The shame is shifting it's weight...from the people we elect.... to "us"....the people. We should be ashamed of the careless way we are throwing away our hard earned liberties and freedoms...even our country, by the mindless way we pick and choose our "representatives." . We should feel wretched as we sit in front of our tv's and let them lead "us" like a bull with a ring in it's nose, off to slaughter. But do we? Nope.....we have no time for freedom. We are too busy satisfying our own selfish needs and desires. We are concerned with nothing but ourselves.
I am disgusted with "us". I never intended on writing this blog. All of "us" better do something...as a society....and we better do it soon.
Now...I need to go find that tape measure.....and see if I can find any one that measures up....besides the dutiful and brave Americans who have served, who do serve, and who will serve....in all the many capacities available for Americans to give to their fellow countrymen...
I do love this country. But it is not the country it was. And that's because we aren't the "people" we once were......
Wake up America....Let's stop rolling downhill, like a snowball headed for hell.....(Merle Haggard)

All of "us" better do something...as a society....and we better do it soon. That's just it Tunes...We as a Society have gotten off track.
It's not just our Government that Needs an OverHaul, it's We The People.
Our Society Allowed all of the Underhanded dealing, All of the Corruption...on some level We The People Knew and Turned a Blind Eye.
Personally, I believe that the grounds that our government was build around no longer exist...and haven't for a very long time. We need to start from the ground up, Rebuild for this time period and Into the Future...Add Checks and Balances and make Previsions that they Cannot be Removed. Period.
Great Blog Tunes...Thanks Red.

choosing a government to vote for is like shopping.
You have to see past the pretty package and the marketing, and read the ingredients and hidden additives..
Cos if you dont.. you get what you voted for and get what you bought.
Ignorance is not always bliss.

now that is my #1 pet peeve... looking for something. actually this is one of the reasons i have two of everything cos if i cannot find the one... i will find the other. and if i cannot find either (which is rare) i simply let it go... and get busy with something else... and then, like magic i find what i was looking for.............. imagine that without even looking for it. i used to drive myself crazy loooooooking, before i set these ground rules. getting older is so cool... you learn stuff, like to stop looking.
I just want to slap 'em when they say dumb stuff like that.
we are all so different. words...... have no relevance for me. actually thats one of the reasons why i am here, to learn comprehension and expression. - for me.... its feelings, energy and i am still learning there. words seems to contaminate good energy somehow. but hey, they are necessary we want to get by. just saying
The shame is shifting it's weight...from the people we elect.... to "us"....the people we should say its time for a rule change.... if you want to be in politics, your services have to be rendered free of charge... no salary, package etc. politicians can earn their keep by other means.... like sports people do by endorsing products with guidelines for example. at least then we will know those who are in office are doing it for the love of country and not for the love of money and power. i believe that has to be the best way to get rid of the greedy and corrupt... and to get the right people in the job.
but then what do i know.... i am just dizzy

Really enjoyed reading your blog, I can associate so much with what is happening here in UK, ie MP's expenses....makes you wonder if there are any honest and truly patriotic politicians left, or is that just wishful thinking. You are right it is up to us the people to stand up and be counted.
