I vacationed in Florida (july 18-22) My nephews wedding. After the wedding my sisters and I spent a few days in Vero Beach. Great time! When I arrived home I found some small blisters(very itchy) around my ankles. Didn't think much about it. Now that I'm home!!! ITCHY...OMG! I've read up about these (bastids) and I guess I may be scratching for awhile! Does anyone know any quick relief from these chiggers?

Paint them with clear nail polish, it will sting if you've been scratching them though, however they'll die and it'll quit itching sooner than leaving them be. lol Next time take a bath immediately after any woodsy activity in a small amount of clorox to kill them before it starts itching lol. I spend a lot of time in the woods and at the lake sooo I feel for ya! LOL

After Shave is a great remedy. I use it on bug bites all the time, takes the itch away fast. Get some Gold Bond cream as soon as you can.

Just wipe lighter fluid on em, set em on fire, and stab em with an ice pick when they try to run away!!!

I've used Calamine Lotion. Clear Nail Polish and Hydrocortisone. I've read that they do die after awhile. We don't have them here in Michigan so I wasn't sure what to do! Thanks for all your suggestions! I will use them all again!

Hope the chigger problem goes away soon, too!

Use a very small amount of OraGel or other toothache gel on them. Works great since it's an anesthetic!

Personally I think Crown Royal dabbed on the area is best then take a few swigs. It might not work real well but I'm not sure you'll care after a bit! I feel your pain...my ankles are just now healing from a recent ATTACK also.

Mouthwash, aftershave, and crown royal all contain alcohol.
Rubbing alcohol stops the itch. It is more concentrated alcohol.
Your body will recover from them in about 2 weeks, and they will stop itching. Until then stop the itch by rubbing on alcohol generously.
When I guided tours, I had clients rub their legs and arms with rubbing alcohol when leaving the field. That kills them right then, and you don't get the itching. Old timers tied sulphur powder in a piece of cloth, and dusted their legs before entering the woods. This helps prevent chiggers and ticks, but not completely.

I only know of the clear nail polish & it does work but the alcohol also sounds like a very good treatment as well ttom. I spent much time in the country by a lake & I swear by the clear nail polish, worked for me Do it as soon as possible cuz geesh they do itch
