For the twenty plus years I have worked with children I have dreamed of being able to provide a special place for abused children, special needs children and children with life threatening illnesses. A year ago I sold my last Early learning center and started the process to form a non profit corporation for the children, Now after a year of sweat, tears, lots of money paid out and lots of support and prayers for the wonderful folks here on MD I am sitting in Pigeon Forge Tennessee Where our Childrens retreat will be built. Thursday through Saturday night we will be conducting our FIRST retreat for Our special children .Below is a list of some of the children's disabilities, Part of our retreat activities and a comment from one of the Tennessee protective case workers who referred a family to us A break in the storm, a joyful retreat, and the knowledge that dreams can come true…. these are the things we provide for children with life threatening illnesses, special needs and disabilities, or who have experienced extreme trauma. We believe that a dream retreat in the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, filled with laughter and joy, will lift the spirit, enrich lives, create memories, and strengthen hope in a better future. We sprinkle a little magic into the lives of these children and their famlies .
Families include:
1- Mom Son- 17yrs./ Physical & Emotional Abuse/ ADHD, Son 2- 10 yrs./ Physical and Emotional abuse, Autism, seizures, asthma, acid reflux
2-Mom ., Son - 14 yrs./ADHD, Bi-Polar, Schizophrenic , Down Syndrome, Daughter - 13 yrs., Daughter 12 yrs./ ADHD, 5- Mood disorders., Daughter 11yrs
3- Dad s., Mom-.34 yrs, Son-13 yrs./ Learning Disabilities, Daughter 13 yrs /Sexually abuse/ .Scoliosis, Daughter 16 yrs./Bi-Polar/ history of being homeless and living in foster homes. 4. Dad 31 Mom 29 Son 11 Active Seizures , ADD Daughter 14
While in Pigeon Forge the family will be staying here two of these cabins Thursday afternoon the the families will be attending the blast from the past show at the Smith Brothers family theater A cool show . Thursday evening they will attend the evening show of The Miracle A Must See Friday August 7th the family will spend the day at Dollywood.AWESOME place and then have dinner and catch the regular show Of the Smith brothers . Saturday they will be visiting the air museum cool We will also be doing cookout Squirt gun fights and other fun stuff for the children.     Mr Green Thank you so much for giving this family the opportunity to experience this retreat. Outside of the children having mental health issues; SON has medical needs that are being met through Shriners Hospital. This family is very low income; therefore this trip will benefit the family in many ways. I am so pleased that this family have been chosen. Since you are a former high risk foster parent, you are one of few that realize how some of our children never experience a trip such as this. In the future; if you have another retreat planned and need some children in need please feel free to contact me.
