Yes, I had a date Saturday night. While I was building the restaurant in Ft Smith I used to coincide my breaks with hers at the local Hardee's Restaurant. We would chat over breakfast at 10:30 am or so each day. I liked her quite a bit but she never really showed any romantic interest towards me. She does not even own a computer. Last week she called me and suggested we meet for dinner and a movie. It was a 110 mile drive to meet her but her smile made it well worth the trip. I took a vase and bought three yellow roses which were on the table when she got to the restaurant. We ate at the Razorback Pizza Restaurant that I built and afterwards watched "Funny People" with Adam Sandler. Being a Razorback Sports fan she was very impressed by the collectibles, artwork and memorabilia I had displayed on all the walls there. I can not remember a better or more pleasurable date in many years. That's all I am going to say about that except I wish she did not live so far away.

A real date? Oh my, that's nothing to take for granted. Especially since you said it was a really good date..

It's only gas and a little driving time. How many pleasurable dates like that do you get to go on every year?

Enjoy this. Go for it.

Hmmmmmm.......sounds promising. If you like her, the miles should not really present a problem for now. Perhaps she'd be willing to meet you half way.......or be willing to take turns doing the traveling back and forth. When and if things become much more serious, maybe she'd be willing to make a move. Actually, these are matters that should be discussed with her now. If one of you is not willing to move, if things were to get really serious between you, this could all be a waste of time. You just never know, wordsenchanting. She just may be the one for you.

Great write. Thanks for sharing..........

I had too much fun with her to consider this date a waste of time even if the romantic relationship does not pan out. My only regret was that we did not get a picture together. We did save the movie stubs. That was something she felt was important. We had talked all week and she had already indicated an interest in moving but hates the idea of being too far away from her 4 y/o grand daughter. That is very understandable.

A great date is like eating your favorite flavor ice cream. When it is over and gone there is still the memory to savor. Some memories last forever. Recently I found a card from the first girl I ever had a real date with. I have saved it since 1970 for sentimental reasons. The card says "Once in a Blue Moon someone like you comes along" We lived too far away from each other to keep dating and I was in college at the time but creating a lifetime memory is never a waste of time

I love your analogy with the ice cream, wordsenchanting.

110 miles is not all that far. Maybe one day.....she'll reconsider. In the meantime.....keep having fun and enjoying each other's company.

Well, I live in Russellville and the ratio of single women to single men is quite one-sided. I have been to Ft. Smith several times. It's a nice little town

Kudos to you that you thought a woman was worth 110 mile drive...
