I personally think her and Susan Atkins were the most unstable in the bunch...we will see how society is willing to treat a follower of Charles Manson....I personally think she will be begging to go back to prison when she finds out the world will not be so forgiving or when the neighborhood welcome wagon closes shop and moves on to the next town...A Very stupid decision!!

WASHINGTON - The woman who tried to assassinate President Gerald Ford is expected to be released from prison on Aug. 16 after serving her sentence, a U.S. Justice Department official said on Wednesday.

Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme, a one-time follower of mass murderer Charles Manson, has been serving a life sentence but was eligible for parole almost 25 years ago. She had waived her right to parole previously and chose to remain in prison.

The 60-year-old Fromme is scheduled to be released on August 16, according to Felicia Ponce, a spokeswoman for the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Fromme has been incarcerated at a prison in Fort Worth, Texas.

Ford was unarmed when a Secret Service agent grabbed a semi-automatic .45-caliber pistol aimed at him by Fromme on Sept. 5, 1975.

Fromme had told her defense attorney she staged the attack because she "wanted to get some attention for a new trial" for Manson and members of his gang.

I knew some law enforcement people involved with the Manson case. Squeaky Fromme was just a young druggy who succombed to Manson's incredible charisma.

She is a follower, not a leader. I wouldn't be worried if she moved in next door.

I have to agree with Tom.

He brainwashed those girls. I'd be more worried if they let HIM out!!!!!!!!!

She has been away from him long enough, and off the drugs long enough for him not to be a pull to her anymore, unless she has some serious screws loose..

She did try to kill an imate with a claw hammer while in prison...but we will over look that...

To me once a hardened criminal...always one...but like you mentioned a few others..we will see what happens...30 years is a looooong ass time to reflect on where you went wrong in your life.

An Assistant District Attorney, a hard Marine Corps veteran, and major right winger, went to talk to Manson about another case. He told me he fled the room after about twenty minutes. He claimed Manson had an incredible personal power and charisma that sucked you in, and if he had stayed another half hour, he would have been believing Manson.

Squeaky was just an available tool.

Charlie himself was raised by the California Juvenile Justice system. Nice piece of work.

There are still plenty of internet sites, for and against him, interesting reading.

She'll soon be here looking for a hot date. Considering the calibre of the people here, I think she'll have a lot of takers. I can hear wedding bells already!
