With the economy the way it is, everybody's getting laid off, no matter what occupation, no matter how much of a bigshot they are. I'm wondering if it's even worth it to go back to college right now, as it would be hard to find a job with my skillset where I live. Having been one of the people laid off recently myself, I find myself looking at options, and atm, they're not looking good. Makes it worse that I have to go it alone -.-

Go get that college education. It will give you self worth and may even give you some ideas. If you are really passionate about something then you'll find a way. Make sure you go for what you want at college and not what for what's practical for getting work. I you are really passionate, you'll put the necessary work for it and you're more likely to stay when the boat rocks ! All over the world there are refugees, but you are lucky to live where you can still stay in your country and work. USA is a continent. Try your luck elsewhere. You may get some nice surprises and experiences you may never have lived if you hadn't moved out ! All the best. Sphynx

I vote YES! Me being the eternal optimist, I believe our economy WILL take a turn for the better sometime in the near future. It may take a couple of years, but it WILL happen. What better way to spend your time in the meantime than getting your college degree so that when the economy does improve you'll be ready to jump back in the job market with both feet? I think if you did a little research it would likely show you that the unemployment rate for those with a higher education is much lower than that for persons having a high school diploma. All that aside, and although getting a college degree is a big investment in time and money, I totally believe that you will have not only better and more job opportunities, but a great sense of accomplishment and pride in yourself as well. Go for it!
