Well.......I remembered. I remembered to call my daughter to wish her a Happy Birthday on this day, August the 16th. She is my first born child. And then, I called my son to wish him the same. He is my second and last born child.

I think it's probably one of my biggest fears, now that I'm getting older (and not necessarily wiser), that I might forget these all important dates. I'm so afraid of forgetting to call a family member on his/her birthday. I have all the birthdays of my family and friends (those that will tell me, that is) on my calendar, but what good does that do when I rarely look at the calendar? I'm fairly good at remembering what day of the week it is, because each day I count down the days to when it's Sunday again.....my only day off. How I love Sundays! The only time I really need to know the date is while I'm at work, and that isn't a constant. That calendar isn't filled in with the dates that I need to remember.

In February, my younger sister forgot to call her daughter until really late. She felt awful about it, and I don't blame her. Crystal kept telling her that it was alright. She understood that her mom had to have had so much on her mind at that time to forget. I did my best to convince her of the same.

Hmmm.......but was it alright to forget to call her daughter to wish her a Happy Birthday? No.......I don't think so. I'm not so sure I could ever have forgiven myself if I had forgotten to call. Well.....up until I won't remember to feel badly about it. But then.....it's one of my fears. That's just it. Time is all sort of becoming vague. Unless the month and the date are used together, I'm rather lost. I think perhaps I need to have more purpose to my life....some new meaning, instead of just letting time slip away from me. On the other hand.....maybe it's a good thing NOT to keep track of the days, weeks, months and years that are passing me by at lightning speed!

Anyway.....I remembered to call them both. My daughter.....and then my son, who was born just one year later.....minus three hours. My daughter always remembers to call her brother, and she does so between the hours of 8:31 a.m. and 11:31 a.m. just to ask him how he feels about being the same age as what she is.

Once again.....in case it was only a dream that I called.....

Happy Birthday to my favorite daughter and to my favorite son. I love you!!!
