RE: Lemonade Stand story
Come on, Rain, I think your paranoia has no boundaries. Did you actually listen to that story yourself?
What does park cops in NY have to do with the president of the United States?
Besides, the park cops were actually doing their job. I would hope they would. It's illegal to have a vending business--and a lemonade stand is a vending business--on public property or in a park without a permit in every city in the country.
You folks who worship Fox news need to turn the TV off. Billionaire Rupert Murdock is screwing with your head!

Dharma> The purpose of a rant isn't logic, truth or community. The purpose of a rant as with the lemonade stand is scapegoating, labeling, ideological reinforcement, and the seduction of angry mobs for disaffected souls.
It's important to a certain subgroup in the US to paint everything going on as being about their anti-Christ, Barack. I'm sure that the flat tire on my riding lawn mower is a result of that socialist, fascist, tyrant, whatever..Barack. I'm sure that the paint peeling on the west side of my house...is from his undermining of the American spirit to take care of our own things. I'm sure that the my milk going bad in the refig over the weekend is a result of his socialist efforts to make every cow produce the same no matter how big their teats or utters.
All you need to do is wait a few hours, and the ranting returns with another piece of detritus that was found along the highway of Faux-Stories-as-News sling-fest, and you'll have another blog to write urging some common sense, shared rules of logic and evidence, and a form of rationality you recognize. If people don't enter the room with a question, but with an answer, there is no purpose served by pointing out holes in the answer. You never heard the question they're actually believing they answer.

I hope Rupert remembers this the next time he gets a bad mufeletta at some unlicensed stand in the Park. Heck, he'd be on the phone with his lawyer's while he's still sitting on the john ranting that the Obama administration is trying to make citizen's sick so that they'll vote for health care reform.
Musta been a Slow news day. Not enough silly floods and economic disasters to report on I guess.

I dont actually 'worship' Fox news as you say, but I do find that shows like Bill O reilly give you more of an insight to both sides of arguments as where MSNBC only shows 1 side..
Bill O Reilly has in fact stood up for Obama on many occasion and had some slamming mail for it, but like he says, its his job is to report whats going on.
Not just what MSNBC want you to know. MSNBC is also owned by GE who have had millions in very low interest loans, so its no surprise that they are being nicer than ever to the Obama admin now that they are going to be asking for more money.
1 sided shows do nothing for people who wish to know the news and not just daily reports on how wonderful Obama is.

Common sense to me, enforce the law, but; more common sense, the parks commissioner squased the summons. I didn't catch the whole story, did fox imply it had something to do with Obama?

I was a metro cop.
Seems to me, the police had a slow day.
We're talking about a little girl and lemonaide.
Not a 'vender' who sells from a cart on a regular basis.
Use a little common sense.
If the city of New York needs money from fines that bad, I'd be happy to make a donation so the little girl can sell her lemonaide.
Will $20.00 bucks do it?

It must be very terrifying to live in a world full of Obama clones, lurking behind every corner and bush, waiting to hurl a national disaster at you.
No wonder some fear filled hearts yearn for the wise and visionary protection of ole George W.
