I cut my hair off today. Over 7 years since i touched it with Scissors.
I decided that i was tired of people calling me Cher and i thought it's about time i cut it.
Obviously the long hair made me look much younger but i was tired of getting carded when i bought a pack of smokes. I know i look young but i sure as hell don't look under 18.
So, i did it today and i donated my 15 inches to Locks of Love.
My hair is now just below my shoulder with some sexy layers in the front and back.
I actually have volume, ive never had that before.
After i got it cut, i got in my car expecting to slam my hair in the door as usual. I actually got teary eyed when the seat belt didn't grab hold of it.
I realized how stupid it was to use my hair as a security blanket. I honestly have a abnormal obsession with it.
I'm beautiful no matter how long my hair is. It's not my hair that makes me who i am. I was getting tired of total strangers touching it. Everywhere i turned there was someone putting their hands in it without asking. Can you imagine the germs i have carried on it? Drunk girls in bathrooms are usually the culprits.
I didn't want it this short but the hairdresser said if i cut it this way, they could use the hair to make more than one wig for a child with Cancer.
My hair is going to make a child feel better.
That was it for me. I told her, give them what they need. I don't care how much it is.
I felt so stupid. Here i was all worried about what my hair would look like. If i could hide behind it after she cut it and would i feel secure without it.
In the mean while, there's children sitting in Hospital beds getting treatment for all sorts of Cancers. Suffering and losing their hair.
How f"cking stupid am i?   
I felt ashamed of myself. I still do because i just looked in the mirror and almost cried for MYSELF again. Shame on me.
I'm going to smile and be happy knowing that my security will be turned into someone elses security.
I pray that a child will smile when they are given my hair.
That they can finally run their hands through hair of their very own.

Locks of Love is a good thing. My daughter cut her hair for it a few years ago. The hair will grow back .. but that feeling will stay ;)

Giving away what is given us, is a good thing. It will grow back. Hopefully you have the same feelings, in a couple years, when you can donate again. Sometimes repitition is a good thing.

Thank you, all of you.
It was funny, i went around to show my friends and family last night. I got the same reaction from everyone.
"Your long hair was so gorgeous, but it was too long."
I was like, "you didn't tell me before?"
But now that it's cut, it's obvious i should have cut it a long time ago.
I'm trying to convince a few friends of mine to take the plunge and cut too.
I just woke up and had a clip in it. It looks awesome. LOL
I'm so excited that a kid could be getting their wig soon. That's so exciting.

What a great gift for someone who needs.
My daughter when she reached 16 wanted her hair cut short, she had it to her waist, after the pony tail was cut off it was an inch below the required length for locks of love. I e mailed them and they confirmed that is wasnt long enough.
So I kept it, its still wrapped in a bag. well at least I get to look at how beautiful her hair was back then,

After viewing the mass of comments on how a "REPUBLICAN" can do the right thing,,,, I took it to heart that I should be more liberal and do the right liberal thing.
I found 6 women with long hair in the mall, knocked them down, shaved their heads, and then donated the hair.
I feel much better knowing that they gave for a good cause.

Yay for you... I have done the Locks 3 times now.. and the fourth is coming at the end of the month. It is a wonderful cause... and I am sure that your layered hair is drop dead gorgeous.

I just have to say to myself. She's really a dem in a rep clothing,lol  Why is it so hard the fathom the idea of a Rep. doing something kind or nice? Take a guess who finances most "kind" things that are done for most people. I know ive helped my share... just never quite like this before. This feels very different. I highly recommend it

I highly recommed it also. Although,,, being folically challenged,,,, I find myself doing meals on wheels, and I cut grass for shutin's when I have time. I also am a registered girl scout leader, and I am working on a project now to put together a program to teach teenagers how to do basic HTML code,,, so they can sell their web site construction skills. And I'm also registered on UNMET NEEDS. A charity to assist dependant families of deployed service personel. Everyone should check it out.

A Mother had 3 virgin daughters. They were all getting married within a short time period. 
Because Mom was a bit worried about how their sex life would get started,
she made them all promise to send a postcard from the honeymoon with a few words on how marital sex felt.
The first girl sent a card from Hawaii two days after the wedding.
The card said nothing but "Nescafe." Mom was puzzled at first, but then went to the kitchen and got out the Nescafe jar.
It said: "Good till the last drop." Mom blushed, but was pleased for her daughter.
