Okay, a friend and I have a bet going against a republican and religious friend of ours that there was in fact a speech by then president George W. Bush where he mentions that jesus (or possibly god) told him to go to war.
I do remember hearing bits of it on the Howard Stern show when he was still on terrestrial radio, but I don't know the date, nor can I find any record that his show ever covered such a speech.
Can anyone help? I don't want my republican friend thinking that he's one of the good guys.

Apparently, in 2003 Bush addressed a Palestinian delegation and said "I am driven with a mission from God", explaining his fervor to invade Iraq. There had been several mentions of a 'religious and moral duty' afterward. Of course, as we all know....that was bullshit.

To flesh out the info marchartist shared, in 2003, in a meeting with Palestinian foreign minister Nabil Shaath and Mahmoud Abbas, former prime minister and now Palestinian President, Pres Bush told them : "I'm driven with a mission from God. God would tell me, 'George, go and fight those terrorists in Afghanistan.' And I did, and then God would tell me, 'George go and end the tyranny in Iraq,' and I did."
And "now again", Mr Bush is quoted as telling the two, "I feel God's words coming to me: 'Go get the Palestinians their state and get the Israelis their security, and get peace in the Middle East.' And by God, I'm gonna do it."
Mr Abbas recounts that the US President told him he had a "moral and religious obligation" to act. God, Bush, and Iraq Thank God for Non-US news sources
His religious fervor was lifted again in talks with Jacque Chirac, then the president of France, when in leading up to the war, and he was recruiting the world to war... Chirac remembers that the American leader appealed to their “common faith” (Christianity) and told him: “Gog and Magog are at work in the Middle East…. The biblical prophecies are being fulfilled…. This confrontation is willed by God, who wants to use this conflict to erase his people’s enemies before a New Age begins.” Chirac, God and the Mideast
Is this what you meant?

I think you should all shut your mouths, and leave Pres. Bush alone. After what we have running this country now, your all going to get just what ya deserve. One day in the not to distant future you are going to wish you had Pres. Bush in office again. The whole stinking lot of you bashers need to get right with God. It's Obama who thinks he is Lord. But no he is just the devil.

Obama is the one who thinks he's God and has a flock of worshippers who think he can do no wrong, which only makes the 'messiah' think more and more of himself. So far I haven't seen ANY right. If some of these people had any clue, they would never have another bad thing to say about George W. Bush.
