After reading all the blogs, Hearing all the bitching, griping, all the pro's and con's on the subject of Cash for clunkers. I put $45 bucks in my ole' Bronco{a 1986} and headed north about 50+ miles to nashville. Yes that ole' truck used a half a tank of fuel getting up there ...The only problem i had when i was going from car lot to car lot, i couldn't find anything on the Domestic car lots that i actually liked . So, the only thing left was the imports. I tell you i havn't been looking for a new car in a while but i could tell a big gap in the prices and quality of domestic and the imports. I ended up buying a Kia Soul, for a little over $12,000.00 after my $4500.00 rebate { Thanks OBAHMA } on my ole' bronco. I drove that little car back home, getting around 35 miles per gallon and was tickled to death with my purchase. I just wished i could of found a domestic car with the kind of warranty, price, quality, and looks but i couldn't . I gues it really doesn't matter to anyone else what i bought, my money my choice

I remember when kias first came out. They were peices of junk. Everybody laughed at them. Now look at them. Warranty you can't beat. Looks improved. Better quality. Last I checked about half the price of a chevy. One the bright side you got rid of a Ford hehe. Let us know how the kia holds up. I've been hearing a lot of good things about them....

Too bad I didn't qualify with that 2007 Dodge Charger piece of crap I have! I have a Honda Ridgeline pickup and it's the best truck I ever had. Getting rid of that Charger soon. No more American cars for me. Haven't had one that wasn't a piece of junk!
It's a shame that Detroit can't build a car that doesn't fall apart after 3 years because I would prefer buying American.

Kia announced that they are going to open a plant in GA the last quarter of this year.
It's almost like buying American.
Enjoy your new ride!
....at least it's not a Chevy.

While I don't think much of the clunker program, I'm glad that you were able to benefit from it, Scratch. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

I guess I have to play devil's advocate. I won't buy anything with a foriegn nametag if I can help it. If US workers make one, I'll buy it. I think it's the hight of stupidity for the US tax payer to buy foriegn cars for people. There's not another country in the world that would do that. Why is America so stupid. That program should be for American cars only.........and before someone points out that toyotas are assembled in the US, I'll point out that Toyota isn't exactly a good old American name. Sure, you can get a rice burner cheaper. So where will the money come from to buy them when the US slips into third world status?

gues it really doesn't matter to anyone else what i bought, my money my choice Except for the $4500,,, which was my money,,, and Your Welcome.
I'd rather you have it,,, than some grant to Berckly or UCLA to find out why dogs mate.
These days,,, I'm halfing my car purchase between domestic and import. I'm buying an import made in a plant just down the road. I know the proffits go overseas,,, but right now,,, they are just about at cost, and the people who are looking at layoffs live right here near me.

Enjoy your new car....if I could have taken advantage of the 4,500.00 (my car didn't qualify...) I wouldn't have had a problem buying a foreign made car if it were the better choice in quality, looks and price!...

Buy what you want and what fits the bill. American made? Is there really such a thing anymore? I am not so sure.
Assembled in Mexico, parts made in Japan, a Volvo is a Ford, so forth and so on.
Best of luck with your new purchase.
