So long Senator... thanks for your service to your country you will be missed!
(CNN) -- Massachusetts Sen. Edward Kennedy, the patriarch of the first family of Democratic politics, died Wednesday at his home in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts, after a lengthy battle with brain cancer. He was 77.
"We've lost the irreplaceable center of our family and joyous light in our lives, but the inspiration of his faith, optimism and perseverance will live on in our hearts forever," a family statement said. "We thank everyone who gave him care and support over this last year, and everyone who stood with him for so many years in his tireless march for progress toward justice."
Kennedy, nicknamed "Ted," was the younger brother of slain President John F. Kennedy and New York Sen. Robert Kennedy, who was gunned down while seeking the White House in 1968. However, his own presidential aspirations were hobbled by the controversy around a 1969 auto accident that left a young woman dead, and a 1980 primary challenge to then-President Jimmy Carter that ended in defeat.
But while the White House eluded his grasp, the longtime Massachusetts senator was considered one of the most effective legislators of the past few decades. Kennedy, who became known as the "Lion of the Senate," played major roles in passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Voting Rights Act of 1965, the 1990 Americans with Disabilities Act and the 1993 Family and Medical Leave Act, and was an outspoken liberal standard-bearer during a conservative-dominated era from the 1980s to the early 2000s.
"Senator Ted Kennedy's legacy in the United States Senate is comparable and consistent with the legacy of his entire family for generations," Kennedy's biographer, Ted Sorensen, said.

THANK GOODNESS THAT SEN. EDWARD KENNEDY IS GONE FROM OUR PLANET! Whoever says he will be missed is an idiot, and ignorant of his corruption and abuse of power... He will NOT BE MISSED! (by anyone in their right mind, unless you want illegal immigrants, corruption in government...). We can only wonder why he was allowed to live so long.... Finally our country can try to start healing the wounds he caused it to suffer... His rule in government was like a tumor on our country, from a moral-less man bent on greed and control. Notice that the ones who have served our country well, are still living at a ripe old age.....

I never liked Kennedy. People think they are some kind of royalty in ths country.
The link I posted is a 9 minute video from the Boston Globe.
I am not trying to start anything, but would like to ask a simple question.
So for all the good he did do let's re-hash something that happened 30 years ago? What about the people who made mistakes in their lives and killed another person, they rot in prison while people like ted get away with it. Maybe the "good" he did was to make up for murder. He was only charged with a misdemeanor. Someone like you or I would get 10 years n the electrc chair for doing exactly wht he did.

Look at Chris Brown yesterday...get's sentenced with 5 years probation for beating the shit out of another celebrity...if that was me? Oy vey...
Michael Irvin formerly of the Dallas Cowboys...get's busted with crack and strippers etc...probation...I get in trouble with the law for alcohol...I got sentenced 18 months of supervised probation etc...93 days of jail over my head etc...
Don't even get me started with the Paris Hilton fiasco...2-3 hours in jail..Wat up wit dat?
But I hear and understand what you are saying...

truthfully, I did not follow much of Ted kennedy's political career or for that matter his personal life. However, the man has passed. He is the only one who has to answer for his past mistakes , errors in judgement. I would hope that he had come to terms with those.
We all screw up royally sometime in our lives. I know I have.. seriously royally. I'm the one who has to live with my mistakes as well as those i affected by those mistakes. I hope I have been forgiven. Those who have personally been affected by Mr. Kennedy's mistakes, please stand up now and speak your piece... otherwise, please just go on with you perfect little lives and wait for your turn at the pearly gates for your " review"

It's said that behind every Great Fortune....is a Great Crime, The Kennedy's made thier fortune, "Bootlegging" The Crack of their day! It was illegal and people were killed in the process, Ironically this same family, then started writing Bills and laws to regulate others from making fortunes, to keep them lawful, and controlled, yet they had no control, nor minded the laws of their days. JFK was not a fan of Civil Rights, furthermore His brother Bobby the then US Attorney, was trying to thwart the efforts of MLK to bring equal rights to blacks.
This family has been hailed through the years as America's first Royal family a Camelot was the description of Washington D.C at the time of JFK's presidency. Not even George Washington would accept that reference, nor allow him self to be called King as suggested, The Camelot era of the Kennedy's is now comparing the Obama's to JFK and Jackie, especially since Ted endorsed Obama. Interesting that JFK and Bobby fought to keep blacks down, and Teddy endorsed a half black man to be president. The democrat party fought against freeing blacks and giving them equal rights, It was the Republican party who fought to free slaves, MLK was a Conservative Republican.
I feel badly for the family loosing a family member, other then that, I don't like him as a person nor respect him at all, he got away with murder, yet treated like royality, had he been under Obama Care as it's written thus far he would have been dead year ago.Health Care is something he wanted passed for we the people, yet it didn't apply to him

Wing Zero and Trailwalker, both of you should be ashamed of yourselves.. who are you to judge another person, especially a person that has served his country well, despite his past mistakes. As a matter of fact, he and his brothers have done so admirably.. Can you say the same? I think not!
What gives you the right to judge others? Let me tell you something, from what I see you are lacking alot in your lives, and should be trying to make the world better for the ones around you, and not try to talk ill of the dead. Didn't your mother raise you right? And Hell Yes I have always and will always be a fan of the Kennedy's, got a problem with that? Well Too Damn Bad!

I've always thought you should not speak ill of the dead, though when it comes to politicians their records and deeds are certainly fair game. But when they die, for a while at least, lets only remember the good things they did.
Sen. Kennedy was a hell of a stereotypical Irishman.

Con Tudo Respecto....With Complete Repsect.... Vamp said; who are you to judge another person,
Wing Zero and Trailwalker, both of you should be ashamed of yourselves.. who are you to judge another person, Ahhh isn't that what you just did? [quote]especially a person that has served his country well, That's up for debate..
despite his past mistakes. A mistake..? leaving his girlfriend to drown until she died to save a DUI or public disgrace, that's not a mistake Sweety..that's premeditated Homicide,He could have tried to save her, or atleast send help.
As a matter of fact, he and his brothers have done so admirably.. Can you say the same? I think not! Very Judgemental.. History was kind to them, they both had mistresses and sought to continue to keep blacks without civil rights.. The civil rights act was signed into law by LBJ, only after he was pressured by the Republicans supporting the Blacks on Equal and Civil Rights..
What gives you the right to judge others? Isn't that exactly what your doing?
Let me tell you something, from what I see you are lacking alot in your lives, and should be trying to make the world better for the ones around you, ooooooh both arrogant and judgemental... How you you possibly know what's lacking in their lives? unless of course your judging them?
and not try to talk ill of the dead. Didn't your mother raise you right? Where is it written or a law that we must glorify someone who dies? especially when they haven't earned it, is that being respectful to lie?
And Hell Yes I have always and will always be a fan of the Kennedy's, And here lies the real reason for such an attack.. It's okay for you to like him or them for what ever your reasons are But to directly attack and accuse other of being judgemental when you your self were very judgemental, is a lil Judgemental doncha think...
got a problem with that? Well Too Damn Bad! Oooooouch! Where's the love Vamp... We've only did what you and others have done, express our thoughts...

I don't have much to say about Ted. Not bothered he died. We all die.
Nothing wrong with speaking about the dead. Some will say good things, some will say bad things and some will say both. Death doesn't only happen to a few people, it happens to us all. It's not like some person being struck with a terrible illness and being made fun of. We are all going to die. I It's not going to make one difference if people are saying good or bad things about us then.
If you don't want people saying bad things about you after you kick the bucket, don't do anything that would make them say such things.

People say bad things when I am gone I will haunt... So does that mean we can say bad things about you now..while your alive? Cool...opps..I think Ive already done that.... maybe a time or two..
Im with you Trail...good post..
Many soldiers have died....and yet.. they rarely get recognized...Look at Ron Paul..hes a great politican..yet all you hear about him is that hes a nut job..I guess cause hes alive they can talk crap on him..even though he puts his life literally on the line to expose this corruption that Kennedy and his cohorts do to the Americans...
ONe of you said what has he done to me personally...He trashed our constitution and our country..what can be worse than that?
Just because you die..doesnt clean your slate clean of dishonesty and bad behavior...
I cant forgive any politician that is willing to give away this country to invaders from another country...and he tried to do just that..and hes has tried for years to bring us into socialism....and I cant forget that either..
I dont like it..
Wing Zero and Trailwalker, both of you should be ashamed of yourselves.. Why?
who are you to judge another person, especially a person that has served his country well, despite his past mistakes .
Well...thats a matter of opinion..
What gives you the right to judge others?
I dont think pointing out that one disagreed with the giving away of the only country we have is 'judging' anyone...Its just telling the truth..Teddy is NOT a hero to many people...so what.
Let me tell you something, from what I see you are lacking alot in your lives, and should be trying to make the world better for the ones around you, and not try to talk ill of the dead .
We are trying to make the world a better place....Trying to alert people to the bad deeds that this man did so perhaps..we can avoid this behemouth healthcare bill that Kennedy has always slobbered over.....and tried to shove down our throats...
Didn't your mother raise you right? And Hell Yes I have always and will always be a fan of the Kennedy's, got a problem with that? Well Too Damn Bad! Of course we were raised right...Obviously we were raised not to admire nor hold in adoration people who break the laws of the land...or use their money and statis to avoid the laws that the rest of us are forced to obey....
How about you? Didnt your mommy teach you about those bad men?
Hell..lets let all the badmen out of the jails..after all who are we to judge...
You people over use that saying...and usually to your own advantage..
It means to not decide who goes to heaven or to hell..
The bible says its good to expose evil....
Good try...but no cigar...toots.
Be a fan of Kennedy all you want..i could care less...
