Which is why I again am turning to my dear friends here in MD Land for their thoughts & prayers for my dad. After recovering fully from his low potassium / dehydration / passing out episode, dad had a quiet week that followed. About the middle of last week he developed large, red boil type lesions on his chest & sides that both itched & burned. He went to see the doctor, & it turns out he has shingles. It was in the early stages, so he was prescribed some meds & cream to aid in the reduction of them. Well, today on my lunch hour my mom calls me & says dad's back in the ER again as he was getting dizzy & oozy. They did an extensive panel of tests yet again... EKG, stress test, x-rays, blood work, & everything in between. It was determined that his heart rate was the cause of his dizziness. As mentioned before, he's dealt with periods of tachycardia (rapid heart rate) for the past 25 years, but medication has kept it @ bay. He's wearing a heart monitor for 48 hrs. to see if anything shows up. If something is discovered, he may need a pacemaker. Having panic anxiety / serotonin imbalance myself, my own nerves & heart rate have been high lately from my dad's 3 different episodes in 2 weeks. It's times like these where I wish I was dating, just to have someone to hold, & tell me it's gonna be ok. Your prayers have been heard in the past, & I have felt them, & my family has felt them. There aren't enough words to express the appreciation I have for the past thoughts & prayers I've received. Again, I thank you from the bottom of my heart, & will have an update Weds. evening as soon as I find out the results. *HUGS & FOOTRUBS* ladies... *HANDSHAKES* guys..

My Mom got her pacemaker last year. She's 84 and goes out dancing twice a week. The old broad gets out more that I do. pffffft!

My thoughts are with you during this trying time.
As for the shingles...my grandmother...who is soon to be 93 & had the shingles a few years ago, suggest vinegar. She used plain cider vinegar on cotton balls & rubbed her spots several times a day every day & it soon healed.

Prayers from here...and yes, I know prayer does work.. it's what sustains me ...
On a personal note, My Dad has had a pacemaker put in .. it took a bit to get it regulated but Mom says he has more energy now than he has had in a long time and feels much better....
I hope he gets better soon

Wow! Well I hope the shingles get better very soon and that the tests on his heart turn out fine. I also know what you mean about dating and having someone to share with. Thanks for letting us know and please DO keep us updated.

My thoughts and prayers go out to your dad for a speedy recovery of whatever it is that is ailing him, WSOR. I need to tell you, though. I know it's really hard to have to deal with all of this, but YOU need to take care of YOU. If you don't......you won't be any good to your parents or yourself. I'll also add you and your mom in my prayers.
