Ugh - after a long absence and a dizzy schedule, I found myself returning to MD land. I promised myself, it was only for blogging.

And then it happened.

I sneaked a peek at the political forum.

And then another. And another. And soon, I found myself avidly reading about national health care and the debate for and against it.

Oh no! And then I was posting. Making the statement that our national health care is broke, and our medical is in shambles.

And then a response. And a response to that and on and on....

ARGHHHH!!!!!

Get me out of there!

I don't read newspapers or watch the news anymore. The reason? The negativity that they endorse does not create positive results in my life. I refuse to participate in the fear mongering that takes place in the media.

And for the same reason, I attempted to stay away from the forums. Holding an opinion is simply that - an opinion. It's not right or wrong - it just is.

And yet, the forums are full of those that proclaim their opinion is "right" and unless you hold the same one - you are "wrong". That they cannot be friends, or even civil if you don't hold the same opinion as theirs.

And I had to ask myself the question that my mentor always does - what benefit do you get from it?

How does it benefit your life? How does it benefit your day? How does it benefit you and those around you? How does it benefit you in attaining your goals? Does it energize you?

And, as I cannot see the benefit to myself of my participation, as it is highly unlikely that any forum on MD will make a pinch of difference in the whole scheme of things, it is truly a waste of my time.

It detracts from my focus on where I want to go. It detracts from my focus on what I want out of life. It sucks the positive energy that I work hard to create in my life.

Soooo... today, I will address this penchant to peek at the forums (kind of like going past a car wreck - you don't really want to see it, but you can't help but look) and refrain from reading or posting in a negative environment. Focus my energy towards positive results and beneficial activities.

(No peeking, no peeking, no peeking... STOP THAT! Get AWAY from the forums!)

There are enough political comments in the blogs to keep me wishing they'd just STF up. Those who get angry when their opinions aren't shared are the worst. this is called small mindedness and tunnel vision. We don't need to go to the forums for more of it.

It benefits my soul to stand up for what I think is right. It makes me feel good knowing I did so. I do not approach every question asking "What's in it for me?" Rather, I ask, "Will this make the world a better place?"

Reading that stuff does drain the positive energy from you, you are so correct.

"You" is not literal - it's general.
How does it benefit you and those around you?

IMO, negativity does not benefit anyone. A positive attitude results in positive results - benefitting everyone.

Just curious, how can negativity in the forums result in positive results anywhere? How does one make a difference by arguing in the forums?

Does MD have an in with the prez?
