Today, I opened my wallet of time and realized I had been "spending" my time on irrelevant things. That the time I had been "spending" was certainly not on a good investment, and would not net a positive return or results for myself or for anyone else.
Yesterday I wrote a blog with regards to the political forums and how I had found myself back there, posting in a negative environment.
And I wrote how my mentor always asks me - what benefit do you receive from it?
As I write for myself, these blogs are simply thoughts and questions I ask myself. Musings from within. I don't expect or seek kudos, comments, or accolades. Nor do I particularly care what others opinions on it, or of me, are.
But I did find it funny - that one person from the political forum made a comment.
It was a seemingly smug comment. "It benefits my soul to stand up for what I think is right. It makes me feel good knowing I did so. I do not approach every question asking "What's in it for me?" Rather, I ask, "Will this make the world a better place?"
And I thought - hmmm - but you are, admittedly, benefitting. How does arguing in the political forums and name-calling make the world a better place? Did it make someone else smile and feel good about themselves? Does it make you feel good?
How does standing up for what you perceive is "right" in a political forum make a difference anywhere?
Does posting in the political forums make a difference in anyone's life? In your community? In your country? IMO arguing and negative behavior only perpetuates more arguments and more negativity.
Asking yourself if there is a benefit from something does not necessarily mean you are asking yourself "what's in it for me?" and expecting "payment".
If I am surrounding myself with negativity - what benefit is that to anyone? Change isn't made through "can't do" attitudes. And it certainly isn't made by juvenile name calling and nasty behavior on a forum.
And as I wrote yesterday - opinions are not right or wrong - they just are. Asking if there is a benefit to what you are participating in, is simply asking yourself, "do I feel good doing this. Am I making a difference in anyone's life? Am I making a difference in my life? Am I emitting positive energy that will energize me and everyone around me?
Will I look back on my day and smile?
I will continue to ask myself these questions as I continue my quest to be a better person and to help myself and others attain wellness and their dreams through positive thoughts and energy.
When my wallet of time runs out, I want to know that it was time spent well.

Ok, so your not seeking kudo's, but I had to add one.
I think the problem with some is that they have fallen into a behavioral pattern. When one does nothing but spew forth anger and hate for so long, it becomes habit. They forget what is was like before the negativity took hold and engulfed them. We are creatures of habit, when we fall into our rut of life, we tend to try and drag the rest of the world down with us.
One of the things I like to debate and not argue is politics. Or maybe just listen to the other persons views. No matter how much I think I am right, I know i am not. Just because I have beliefs that I follow doesnt mean its right for everyone. To believe I am right above all else is way beyond ignorant arrogance. Counter productive pride is Satanic Sin numer 8 from Anton Lavey.
If I checked my wallet of time, then reading this blog was well spent.

How does standing up for what you perceive is "right" in a political forum make a difference anywhere? Good question...
I think that the answer is (among other things).... "because I can" and "to make sure I (still) can" and "to make sure I'm able to"....
I don't hang out in the forums. Too nasty and war-like for me....
But when I have something political to say, I don't hesitate to say it in blogland. Where one can get "interesting" comments and e-mails behind the scene that measure down (as opposed to "measure up") to the forums....
The idea is to be able to stand up for my stuff without faltering, and to be allowed to stand up for it.....
At least that's what it meant do ME...
And now, I won't use up more time than it is necessary to state my point...

Thanks for the input ^^^!
It is good to stand up for what is right, but standing for what's right in the political forums is akin to sitting in the bathroom.
It can be smelly, doesn't accomplish anything for anyone other than yourself, and definitely needs to be flushed.
And the old adage "talk is cheap" comes to mind.
Now, if standing up for what's right means going to your town meetings, joining organizations that truly do make a difference, making a difference in someone else's life, then yes, I'm all for that and all for the right to do so!
