Would you turn away from love?
Would you turn away from unconditional love?
Would you just leave the love offered to you and just walk away without a second thought?
Would you break the trust that runs so deep and discard it like an unimportant emotion?
Would you say you care, but your careless actions show otherwise?
Would you take loyalty and spit in its face and just walk away?
Would you never care what happened to the love loyalty and trust you were given… and care not where they are or even if they are surviving without you?
If any or all of the above is answered with no…..
Then why do people abandon their dogs?
Still no-one has come forward to claim our fostered dog.
We have put posters everywhere, all over the area, and the only call Ive had was from a lady who lost her Boxer dog.
Miko as I have named him is not a Boxer, he is a pedigree Australian cattle dog, or Blue heeler as some know the breed as.
Found wandering in the road seemingly in no particular direction and obviously lost.
He’s only young, he has no microchip, but his tail has been docked as is normal with the breed.
This breed is expensive, and you’d think that whoever has lost him would be doing everything in their power to find him.. well I know I would.. but that’s just me.
I was talking to the rescue centre today, the lady said that after 4 days with posters everywhere, that the owner would have seen it or heard about it, or a friend of the owner knowing they’ve lost him. The normal course when losing a dog is to call the vets as there are posters of lost and found dogs on their walls, and Miko’s found posters has brought no luck. . We also telephoned several vets informing them that we have him if anyone comes in with a Lost poster. She said its more than likely that Miko has been abandoned, which will explain why no-one has come forward or placed lost posters..
This does make sense.
He is such a sweetheart. A very sweet natured little dog.
Then this morning, our neighbour stopped to comment on our little guest.
“That’s a fine specimen!” he said admiringly.
“My grandson has Blue heelers, he lives on a ranch, he’d just love this little guy!”
2 phonecalls later, his Grandson is coming around to collect Miko and take him to his great new life!!
I am so glad that Miko chose our street to wander down, and even more thrilled that we have found more than a perfect home for him.
We have agreed that if a vet does call in the future, with the original owners that we will put them in contact with Miko's new owners.

I never could understand how a person could just abandon a dog. One day I saw a very malnourished dog (his ribs could be plainly seen) in my back yard and I put some food on a paper plate and took it out to him.He was scared to death and backed off but his hunger got the better of him and he ate it, paper plate and all. This went on for several days. He came back every day and I fed him. It was fall and the temperatures were falling at night. I got close to him one day and he let me pet him and coax him into the house. To make a long story short, I had this guy for 14 years. Then I had no choice but to put him to sleep because he suffered from cancer and could no longer eat. I buried him by his favorite spot in the back yard. Damn, he's been gone for 6 years and I still miss my buddy.

People who abandon or mistreat their animals.Should be stripped of all they have.Except for the clothes on their back.Take them to the middle of nowhere and let fend themselves.

A family dog has reportedly survived more than four months living off goats on a northern Queensland island.
Sophie Tucker, a cattle dog belonging to the Griffith family, was presumed dead after falling from their boat off the coast of Mackay in November.
But the Courier Mail reports the dog swam over 9km (about 5 mi.) to St Bees Island on the southern end of the Whitsundays, where she was spotted by several locals.
Friends of the family suggested the dog — who island rangers thought was wild — might be their pet.
After it was captured last week, the Griffith family met the rangers' boat as it returned to the mainland and were amazed to find it was indeed Sophie inside the cage.
"We called the dog and she started whimpering and banging the cage … they let her out and she just about flattened us,'' Jan Griffith was reported as saying.
"She wriggled around like a mad thing.''
Mrs Griffith said some locals believed the dog was regularly swimming back and forth several hundred metres between St Bees and Keswick Island to hunt.
I think it is really cool that when the rangers rescued her, they found several ferrell goat carcasses on both islands. So the dog returned to it's instincts and swam from island to island to hunt. Evidently, she knew not to drink salt water and found fresh water on one of these islands........Incredible!

Charli, several weeks ago an old, blind in one eye, mostly deaf, Golden Lab mix wandered into my yard at dusk during a horrendous thunderstorm. She was soaked to the skin and scared to death. I dried her off, brought her inside and fed her some leftover pizza (all dogs love that, right? lol )
I too did everything to find her owner, posted her picture, talked with my neighbors asking if they knew who she belonged to, called the newspaper to place a "found" ad, left my phone number with the humane society and dog control. Nothing.
Finally I realized she too was abandoned..probably because she got old. It can't be because of any bad behavior problems because she's a perfect, little angel! She even raises her paw to shake without me even asking her to. Never had a dog do that before......really cute!
So, my other 4 dogs (all strays or rescues) just accepted her as one of the gang, and everything is really going smoothly.
I'm so glad that you did the right thing by taking Miko in until you found him a forever home. I named my sweet girl, Goldie, because of her color and she truly is as "good as gold".
