It happened again... I fell down... a car cut me off and I went down... bike pitched me face first onto the concrete... one little raspberry above my left eye... but I broke my left hand, and sprained my left knee...

People talk about life flashing, or visions.... My only thought was... "Dang this is gonna hurt..." the bike is miraculously unharmed, the crash guards worked as advertised.....

Family and friends are already talking nonsense... "oh you should have been wearing a helmet" (really? how does that prevent a broken hand?) "Aren't you afraid of that dangerous thing?" (nope, and I don't worry about breaking my fingers while tying my shoes)

Life has risks, and rewards, if we hide from all risks, we'd never leave the womb

I'm glad your allright...I think though, we should get you a tricycle just to be safe and you can never leave the driveway again!

Just be careful. I'm gonna find whoever was driving that car and kick their ass.

Well Grumble I hope that you got the plate number of the car...the sad fact is when on a bike You have to watch for them, because They don't watch for you...something my Dad taught me early.

Without a helmet You Are Lucky to only have a broken hand...

It's good to see that you are still alive after your accident, and I hope you will re consider your position on the helmet. My brother has been riding for years, and trust me when I say that NOBODY likes to ride more than him! Several years ago he was also cut off by a car, and ended up in the hospital for two months with multiple leg fractures on both sides... two full length casts.

The first day he was released from the hospital he sawed one of his casts off with a saws all and re broke one of his legs trying to kick start his bike!! He used to feel the same way about helmets... but even he commented after the accident "he was glad he was wearing it after he saw the six layers of plastic that were carved off the helmet as his head was sliding across the pavement".

Be safe my friend.

One good hand is all ya need. Ride on, ride on. They think it is easy to break a bike, or they have too much votto in their own driving skills. Phucking drivers.
