One of the first things I thought of this morning, *after the cat woke me up, and I considered Kitty Burritos for dinner*   , was if Kevin Skinner and his family managed to get any sleep last night.
From his first appearance and try-outs on Americas Got Talent, he stole my heart, and no one else on the show could sway my prayers that he would win, although with the amazing talent on there, I did not think he would make it through to the end.
This poor, unemployed, humble, chicken catcher, from a little backwoods southern town, who plucked his guitar on the front porch for family and friends, and had never been out into the bigger world, walked off with 1 million dollars and a contract in Las Vegas!!! No training, had he...just pure, raw, emotion that radiated from every fiber of his voice, and sad face that touched your very soul.
THIS is what the American Dream is about...and I have such a case of the *warm-fuzzies* I can't stand myself!

I was rooting for the Texas Tenors - thought they were very talented. But was happy to see Skinner win - I might even go see his Vegas show. But last night belonged to Susan Boyle - her Wild Horses blew everyone away.

I never watch any of these new talent shows, or any of the "reality" shows, and pretty much just watch Letterman, a couple of sitcoms, movies, the Daily Show and Colbert Report, and lots of news (oh, and by news I mean the real news on MSNBC, and not the fixed news like on FOX), but thanks for this blog Tira, you managed to make this Skinner sound like he might have been worth a listen...I like the 'umble part about him that you say he was
