Well. the rain finally stopped long enough to play with the Hudson. Cyliniod working, timing set, points gap set, ignition switch working, smoke from underdash check. HOLLLLD up. Smoke???? Yep. Always a bad thing. I knew I was gonnna have to redue the wiring soon, but I didn't want to do it this soon. It only burnt up one wire and melted one plastic three way connector. On the bright side this set back will put me three steps ahead after it's fixed. Gonna put a radio in while the dash is off and get the chrome redone. Might aswell tweed the top of the dash and paint the lower dash while I'm at it. Can't forget those easy to mount speakers while it's apart. If I decide to go with another engine atleast the wiring will be good enough to hold up to the 12v system. Just a small set back, but like I said it will put me ahead in the end. Maybe after this Doc will be running. He is old ya know. Especially for an all original car that was left under a carport.

Think I'm gonna be sick. I just noticed the drivers side floor pan is rusted out. It only had one tiny rust spot the size of a dime when I bought it. The passenger side seems fine on the bright side. Guess that's what I get for waiting to long to get a cover for it. The previous owner put some kinda tar on it, I'm guessin' it hurt it more than helped it. It's not rubber undercoat. It probably just made things worse. At the moment it shouldn't be to hard to take care of. a little cutting and a peice of sheet metal about 12'' by 10'' Finally get a chance to work on it and it seems as though I have plenty of work indeed. I'm tryin' to keep positive, but it's gettin hard to do.

Yep,,, them electrical things don't work so good when you let the smoke out of them.
For a floor repair,,, we used to just rivot and silicone in some road signs. They never rust.
And the price was right too.

Sounds like an old car my ex hubby and I bought, he put some sheet metal and pop rivets, did some body work on it too. We had smoke coming out from the dash, it needed new wires, it was a slant 6 Dodge. Yeah, old cars take work to get them like new again and sometimes you can't even get the parts, not even the junk yards have them. We had to have a spring type device made for under the gas pedal which decided to quit on us. All in all, I still love the older cars.

Ahh but the satisfaction you get from playing Doctor with Doc is more than worth it yeah? I know I have kept my 68 Nova and other Old Iron I have had going at times it felt like with bailing wire and bubble gum but taking one down and redoing it all ..*sigh * how wonderful...
PS Um Bard? I thought we was the only ones who did that
