…There's more than one answer to these questions pointing me in a crooked line The less I seek my source for some definitive The closer I am to fine….
Now, everyone of you, I am positive know that organ in your mouth and the delightful things that can be done with it.. oh, behave and get your minds outta the gutter.. I am talking about:
Tongues...most animals have one. Some snakes have forked tongues (kinda/sorta like some of the people in my life.. LOL). Lizards smell with their tongues. Some fish, such as salmon and trout, have teeth on their tongues (ah, yep, I do know some of these folks also). Frogs and toads have tongues that whip out at incredible speeds to catch flies and other insects. Their cousin, the chameleon, has a tongue that is as long as its body (again... LOL). An anteater's tongue can stretch to the height of a two-year-old. A gecko uses its tongue to wipe across its eyes like a windshield, and a giraffe uses its twenty-inch tongue to clean its ears. The tongue of a blue whale is about the size and weight of a full grown African elephant.
Even though a human tongue cannot smell out dinner, reel in the catch of the day, or reach to the tops of trees to pick fruit, it can do something even more amazing. The human tongue can create words. Words are an incredible gift, and as we have seen, they have the potential for good or evil. How do we harness such energy and insure that it is only used for good? We learn to put the other person's feelings into consideration before we open our yaps... think of the words you are about to spew forth.. if they were said to you, if someone used them about you, would you feel like an arrow had pierce your soul to the very being, or would those words bring encouragement when you needed it most? Would they speak of your good qualities and make you feel a part of the community you are in?
Listen, I know we all have moments when there are people that push that button painted in bright red with the words.. CAUTION, DO NOT TOUCH .. but when that happens, take a 10-count, stop before you speak and think .. is what I am about to say going to be the difference between someone perhaps becoming so depressed it would hurt them? Or can I walk away, with my head lifted, knowing I avoided what could have been a disaster.
The choice is always within your spirit and heart..
And for gramps:
One day an Irishman , who had been stranded on a deserted island for over 10 years, saw a speck on the horizon.
He thought to himself, "It's certainly not a ship" As the speck got closer and closer, he began to rule out even the possibilities of a small boat or a raft.
Suddenly there strode from the surf a figure clad in a black wet suit. Putting aside the scuba tanks and mask and zipping down the top of the wet suit stood a drop-dead gorgeous blonde!
She walked up to the stunned Irishman and said to him, "Te ll me, how long has it been since you've had a good cigar?"
"Ten years," replied the amazed Irishman. With that, she reached over and unzipped a waterproof pocket on the left sleeve of her wet suit and pulled out a fresh package of cigars and a lighter.
He took a cigar, slowly lit it, and took a long drag. "Faith and begorrah," said the castaway, "that is so good! I'd almost forgotten how great a smoke can be!"
"And how long has it been since you've had a drop of good Bushmill's Irish Whiskey?" asked the blonde.
Trembling, the castaway replied, "Ten years." Hearing that, the blonde reached over to her right sleeve, unzipped a pocket there and removed a flask and handed it to him. He opened the flask and took a long drink. " 'Tis nectar of the gods!" shouted the Irishman." 'Tis truly fantastic!!!"
At this point the gorgeous blonde started to slowly unzip the long front of her wet suit, right down the middle. She looked at the trembling man and asked, "And how long has it been since you played around?"
With tears in his eyes, the Irishman fell to his knees and sobbed, "Jesus, Mary and Joseph! Don't tell me that you've got golf clubs in there too!
