I am writing to share how my son has recovered by the Grace of God! Some of you may remember me blogging about my son back in 2007 when he had just come home from a 10-month hospital and nursing home ordeal in another city. I stayed with him because his insurance wouldn't provide a private nurse and my son was unable to take care of himself because he had massive spinal damage due to Disseminated Valley Fever and Valley Fever Meningitis. 
The docs said he would likely die (shoot! he could have drowned in his own vomit because he couldn't move his neck and he would have aspirated and choked to death had I not been there to get help quickly).
Much has happened since I was last here. I have looked for jobs for two years and had brief positions that really were not me, but I tried them because we needed the money. One position was working really well and I had filed for bankruptcy in an attempt to save my home (I refinanced during my son's illness because I needed money from my $70,000 in equity to live on, and I wanted to pay one year in advance so I didn't need to worry about that). The position helped me save my home for three months until a bit of institutional racism reared its ugly head!
One woman told me in whispers that I shouldn't get to comfortable at the new job because the staff hired a lot of minorities, but always found plausible reasons to fire them before their three month probation was up. Sure enough, several other blacks and one Latina lady were fired over a period of about a month. But, this time, two of us filed a complaint against the company with the State Attorney Generals' Office, and maybe one other woman did too. Even if we don't win, maybe it will shake them up enough to encourage them not to play those selfish games. Getting fired cost me my home, but these lenders and broker were pretty unscrupulous. One of the private lenders was discussion loan modification terms with me while an auction was being arranged without my knowledge. I filed a compliant against them, too. I tell ya, the older I get, the less likely I am to take silly crap from people!
I really do try to be a decent person, but I don't like the fact that my son and I are now homeless after living here for 17 years and buying my home with my deceased veteran husband's life insurance money (large down payment). Anyway, I figure God has other plans for us and it will be better than what we have now if we just continue to trust Him.
If you wrote me before and then stopped because I disappeared, please forgive me. My life has been REALLY busy since my son's illness and then, trying to find a job, trying to deal with the legal stuff and the emotions. But, hopefully, I can have some down time once we move to a place the County is helping with through some program that will pay the first month's rent and a security deposit. I have a line on a good job and hope to be selected soon.
With that, I think I"ll close now and go finish my packing. We will be taking some stuff to a storage unit over the weekend, so I want to make sure I finish everything I can.
Here's hoping to reconnect to friends I've missed for a long time! I appreciated all the prayers and want to say once again, that miracles DO still happen!
