As I was on the riding lawn mower today and listening to a cd, I got to thinking about where I live.
I wasn't born here, but I was born in the mountainous area of PA, so my love of mountains goes back to my roots.
I've lived here for almost 30 years and I'm still in awe of the beauty of this area every day that I wake up! I feel like a tourist every day, who's viewing these mountains for the first time!
I love the smell of these mountains, starting with the rich red dirt at the bottom, to the smell of the needles on the spruce-fir trees at the top, and everything in between. It's even better after a cleansing rain.
What I appreciate the most about these mountains is how they look during all four seasons. Mother Nature sure has some beautiful gowns that she let's them borrow. I think the one that they are now just starting to put on is the prettiest. How can yellow, red, purple, orange and brown look so beautiful together? In a few weeks, it will dazzle the unbeliever!
I am so grateful that these mountains have survived intact. No super-highway cuts thru the heart of The Great Smoky Mountains, and never will.
Come see what I'm loving so much, you'll be happy you did.
