It appears to me that the reason the Republicans are cheering that Chicago lost the bid for the Olympics is because Obama wanted it, and anything and everything that Obama does, they are not going to approve of. They apparently do not like the man and if Obama fails they are happy he is failing at whatever he is trying to succeed at. It's all so very childish.

but one thing is for sure..Obama has gone all around the world..talking crap on this country.supposivley his country too..and perhaps people think hes a back stabber?

And also..alot of folks from around the world disapprove of Obamas handling of the war..our troops..our military...and his push for socialism..
Alot of nations depend on America for support and military back up..
I think that could be part of why Obama was denied..

I will come to defense of President Bush & Mitt Romney as they both were in support of the President going to Copenhagen and pitching the idea of getting the Olympics.

I'm laughing about the whole thing!
I mean, think about this for a minute - seriously: WHERE would the city of Chicago even build Olympic-quality arenas??? There's no place to build unless you plan on knocking down all of the run-down areas of the city - and believe me, there are a LOT of run-down areas in that city - moreso than there ever were in Los Angeles!
Then, there's the traffic ordeal...plus, a majority of the city streets are in awful condition, and then there are the toll roads - need I even begin to go there??? I don't think so.
Chicago isn't anywhere near being able to host such a large-scale event due to its antiquated infrastructure, and even if they could, a vast portion of the city would need to be re-constructed. It would be far too costly versus any potential income generated, and would displace far too many people that cannot afford to be displaced. Hosting there would be just as asinine as trying to host in New York City...it just ain't gonna happen.
And, as others have mentioned: Obama has done plenty in the last 9 months to cause other nations to look at the U.S. as a laughing stock, so why should they waste their time on us anyway?
