. This is like watching those apartheid days in South Africa all over again. You people must stop fighting each other and begin to bond.... stop blaming, just accept your neigbour as different to you.
Fighting and screaming in the streets or town centers is not helping your Olympic cause. When the next vote comes round exercise it, until then wish your neigbour well and focus on your own life.
You are making a spectacle of yourselves. This is like watching deja vu, i have seen it all before... in the Republic of South Africa. As they say history repeats itself, ....only this time its on another continent. YOURS.
Take care my friends, i wish you all well irrespective of party.
P.S. You might be happy to know the Dollar has improved quite a bit to the Rand (ZAR south african currency) in the last two days. This, after a substantial drop in value beforehand. Someone must be beginning to do something right.

Sorry but accepting advise from anyone who calls themselves "dizzydoll" sounds like a foolish thing for me to do. You might want to ask yourself what qualifies you to have an opinion about our business? You have no clue whats going on! Americans like me will never need advise or anything else from south africans!

I have read some stupid fvcking comments in my time here @ MD but the above comment in quotes tops the cake.
This guy is typical of many here who have probably never been out of the city they live in and think that they "know" about the world ....LOL...What a fvcking joke.
A "HATER" is all he is and if anybody is clueless on this site it is certainly that j_ckass for sure.

Sorry but accepting advise from anyone who calls themselves "dizzydoll" sounds like a foolish thing for me to do I am amazed that anyone in their right mind would based accepting or not accepting someone's opinion on their screen name??? Okay ladies, how many of you would want to go out with someone named thunderstrikes?? Sounds pretty dangerous & like it'd be a bad ending.
What childish mentality . . . kind of like the olympic thing, huh?

just popped in for a moment, got to dash....
the point of this blog really revolves around the Olympics, and, as has happened in other parts of the world... if a country looks out of control and ungovernable or militant, like many republicans have resorted to.... they will cut you out of all international sports as they have in other countries, South Africa being one of them. Sadly, the good people and sportsmen themselves also suffer in times like this
and dont say: "it will never happen here", never is an awful long time .
Over and above that, watching this unfold in the good ol' USA... is exactly like it was in South Africa when the conservatives were being militant and rowdy. It was at this time when Eugene Terblanche fell off his horse at Church Square Pretoria.
same language - different time http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eug%C3%A8ne_Terre'Blanche
Not only does this behaviour scare tourists, it makes them feel uncomfortable.... they DONT care what the issues are, they simply dont want the bother... if they are going to spend their hard earned bucks to travel, they want to have fun and feel safe.
that link is so funny thanks Charli and thanks to all commentators on this blog

Doll... so you got "your" experience of that sort, too... I even stopped counting how many times I was told to f*** pack up my things and get the hell out of the USA, since I didn't agree with some political party or other, or with some guy or other on his twisted opinions....
Welcome to the club...
(and sad it is... ) .

Dizzy,
I won't repeat myself here, but I just posted my observations on this in a blog titled "It's official: Republicans are Un-American"...
But the fact of the matter, is that, Chicago simply does not have the space/infrastructure to undertake such an event: it's too large of a city in too small of a space - like New York City. Skin color has nothing to do with it.

Skin color has nothing to do with it. skin color has a lot to do with what some of these bloggers (who hate Obama) have to say... i have seen it all before predictable, paranoia plain and simple.
If that is the case, surely they can find another US city to host it, you have a better infrastructure than most countries.

Dizzy,
I personally don't "hate" Obama, BUT - I don't like him either: not because of his skin color (I'm half black too, btw), but because he's a socialist/communist that's going to ruin this country if he isn't kept in check by Congress. (which is why our government is setup such as it is)
I thought it was a big waste of OUR money for him and his wife to fly to Denmark ON TWO SEPERATE PLANES (plus the contingency of support aircraft for both, so make that more like 4-5 planes!), thinking that his presence would coerce the IOC into sending the Olympics to Chicago - when again, the city isn't anywhere near prepared for such an event.
I mean, really...Bush was slamed by the American media if he took a vacation at his home in Texas - this guy is wasting our money flying his wife to New York for dinner, and the media says nothing.
Kinda one-sided, I think.

sadly that happens with all politicians... its business and its the way you present yourself to command respect. this kind of abuse of power happens with all politicians. i am convinced they are all evil.
please believe me, i am not for one minute calling the american people racist. not at all, but you must admit... there are racialist charged incidents, and thats what flashes on the world media. it happened to us also, they would take phones of blacks sleeping in the park and display them as "someone murdered" by some white man. the media is bias, and if they can sell a story they will.
you guys know your congress can protect you, so now you guys must learn to have faith. the world is also confused economically and unsure what to do. you cannot loose the plot now, that will be fatal. they must stop the banishing of guns is the worst thing to do. \
i dont know what to suggest except contact your news shows and tell them to stop it, cos as long as they are there with cameras you will always get some uncle willie who wants to become famous.
i just feel so sad, i found the american public thoughful kind people.. very helpful too. they make eye contact in new york. doll thats very unusual and very polite. people must just have faith... i hated it when these fools carried on here too, even now... xenophobia is and always has been a real problem in africa, not in south africa until now. I never see it, it doesnt affect my life... but i know it is displayed like something to be proud of.
i am not saying, kill the press... no way, thank God for the press but they must learn to be responsible. they must learn to tell the truth i.e. this $hit is in very few areas. etc. and that we have it under control and its just a bit of anger.... i dont know, i just dont like it.

Co-incidentally, Valerie B. Jarrett is Senior Advisor and Assistant to the President for Intergovernmental Affairs and Public Engagement... owns slums in Chicago.. the very same slums that were going to be demolished to make room for the Olympics.
