Your life is but a quagmire
if you wallow in the past
How long will chains constrain you,
control and hold you fast?

Should happiness be put on hold
while self pity keeps you blue?
Take a walk, meet new friends
All good things are calling you

If your past was filled with demons
personifying death
Dont turn and look behind
lest you smell that poison breath

That dragon, Oh so cunning
would rob you of all joy
along with your time and money
with tactics very coy

Caught by fangs of venom
wicked opiate of a dream
Depression is a comfort zone
illogical as it may seem

There is a life and happiness
like a new day bright
but you must choose to flip the switch
and change the gloom to light
