This time of year I build a LOT of fires. Lately I have been spending a lot of time raking my yard and burning up all the fallen twigs and gunk. Soon I will be raking and burning leaves (what the goats don't eat ). And in this wonderful, cooler, crisp fall weather I love to spend a lot of time outside so I do most of my cooking on my grill or in my smoker, usually over an aromatic hickory wood fire. Then there are the fall bonfires to enjoy with roasted hot dogs and marshmallows. I have also been doing some major fall cleaning & culling inside my house, to free up space before winter comes. So some days I get a fire going outside and just start tossing stuff in so I can't change my mind about keeping junk I don't need .

And each and every one of those fires I have managed to start with only ONE match! Now, sometimes it takes me nearly half a box of matches to find just that right one , but eventually I do and the fire is started with just that one match . All the ones that weren't that right one makes a great little pile of kindling .
