I’ve had some lovely e mails over the years since I have been here and made some charming friends, I have also been told I am ‘nice’ ‘sweet’ and recently, ‘gentle’.
But today I just may shatter some of those ideas about me, and if I do, then I’m sorry about that, but its time for a long awaited rant.
Firstly, I am tired of e mails telling me that as I am married I shouldn’t be on this site. “It’s a dating site!” one angry mailer bluntly reminded me.
I had to remind him also that the front page of MD says And I quote.. We are a great way to find a date or new friends. Did you see the OR new friends?
Then yesterday, I had someone tell me what they would like to do to me sexually, and that they even fantasize about me.
Well I can tell you it gave me the eebie jeebies.
Then today I come on here to find more Christian bashing, its getting very tiring and annoying.
America was founded on a Judeo Christian basis, that is America’s history, and roots, her religion is in the constitution and even on the currency. Yet why is it that so many people have tolerance for other religions but not Christianity, a religion of their own country for crying out loud.
Let the Muslim girl wear her head scarf to school.. we mustn’t offend her faith.. let the Seik wear his turban.. the Jew his Kippah, but..Lets stop little Tommy from playing Joseph in the school nativity… we mustn’t offend anyone.. lets stop carols being sung, lets stop saying Merry Christmas, Let's take 'In God we trust' off of the currency... I mean.. we wouldn’t want anyone thinking that this was a Christian founded country would we? No that would be terrible!
Yes, we must have tolerance for other faiths.. but someone sees a cross that is a memorial to fallen soldiers and the world goes nuts screaming for it to be torn down.. Its been there for 75 years, and if this recent nonsense hadn’t been released then it would still be left there silently.. not harming anyone except a few atheists who do not believe in live and let live.
This is a memorial for men that died defending the country, but it seems that their lives lost do not mean a thing to some who would have it torn down. Despicable lack of respect.
If you don’t believe in God then that’s your choice, no-one forces you to go to church, speaking of which.. is that the next thing you’ll attack? Churches? It wouldn’t surprise me in the least,. “Tear down those Christian churches!” I hear them cry.
It makes me as a Christian even more determined to defend my faith, as others defend theirs.
If you are a Godless unbelieving person, that’s your choice, I will not force my religion on to you.. and in return I do not want your faithless atheism forced on me either.
Article 1 US Constitution: "Congress shall make NO law regarding an establishment of religion or PROHIBITING THE FREE EXCERSIZE THEREOF." You will note that this clause ONLY RESTRICTS CONGRESS FROM PASSING LAWS RELATED TO RELIGION. It DOES NOT RESTRICT CITIZENS!
Oh,, and in closing... The only way I'll be made to leave this site is if MD deletes me..
Nasty e mails about me being married already, wont do it I'm afraid.

How ironic... these atheists have the nerve to protest a memorial that honors the men who died giving them the right to protest! Great blog.

You remember 911 media, all the sand dwellers were yelling jihad. Which stands for holy war. So that is why the great American government will abolish religion, because the fallen ones on 911.

That jihad shit pissed a lot of people off in america, that's when america started to actually look a little closer into religion, and saw just how radical the true religious middle easterners were. Which is where religion originated anyway.

What I find to be funny is that it takes more time and effort to be an asshole.
Damn, some people just need to either get stoned or just shoot themselves. Either way they wont be ass holes. Hopefully huh?
I love talking to you and reading your blogs. Why do people have to try and ruin things? And the moron and what he wants to do to you......yeah a LOT creepy. Granted, if I am ever in Texas again, I would want to meet you and Greg at a coffee shop or something. But thats about it.
Im glad your here though and to those who cant deal with it.
I noticed the thing about christian bashing. You do make a good point. I think one of the main problems is that by design, christianity is its worst enemy. The same thing with the Jews. It took almost wiping out an entire religious culture off the map. Now look at them, they are one of the strongest forces in the world. That is why I admire the Israelis so much, they came out stonger and more determined that NO ONE would ever push them around. If it wasnt for the interntional communities stupidity, Israel would have taken out all threats to their country, no hesitation. What will it take for the christians to rise and be more of a positive, constructive force that wont be a victim?
As you know your history, you know how horrible christianity was in europe when rome took control of christianity. How many Jews were slaughtered for reading the Torrah behind closed doors? How many were burned for not converting?........Or submitting to the sexual perversions of the priests? I am not trying to justify what is happening, but maybe its christianitys turn on the chopping block, so to speak.
Even now, its a destructive force in Africa. christians and muslims chopping each other up in the name of their religion. Nuns meeting the wrong end of a machette.
I do concede that it is the few that ruin any religion for the masses, but even then, some of the preachers ......behind closed doors..........
The Mojave cross thing irritates me to no end. It was fine that they were cristian when they lived and died for this country, but its not ok to remember them the way they would want to be? If they do take it down, I hope the souls of the dead veterans haunt the people who did it. Like in their sex life. As the person responsible would be getting it on, they would hear soneone laughing at them, and even more so 30 seconds after they started......
Just my thoughts

If they do take it down If they do on the grounds that its a religeous symbol, then they'll have to take down every cross in every grave yard across the country.. and I think a few surviving relatives will have a thing or two to say about that.

It's all prophecy being fulfilled.
All these heathenous people who are so set on getting rid of God will one day get what they want. When God draws away entirely, I almost want to be here to see how the heathen act.
I wonder who they'll blame everything on then?
It's so true what someone said here.....people are disrespecting the ones who fought for their right to disrespect.
Says a whole lot about heathen character and dignity.

You're a gifted blogger and a joy to read......even this rant of yours. Several of us have written about the religious/political bashing, but it does no good. We just need to learn to stay clear of the ones who are partaking in this kind of behavior. It is okay to be whomever and whatever you are. It's the name calling and general bashing that gets to me.
Great blog again, CHARLIgurl! Just keep on being YOU!

Funny thing is, I don't even go to church. But, I do know what this country was founded on, and, by who. Our founding fathers were Christians, majority of the population in this country are Christians, yet, lately, it seems like that is a "bad word".
I think some take the concept of "Separation of Church and State" to the extreme. Seriously, look at the basic laws of the land...and then take a look at the 10 Commandments.....I don't know them by heart, but I do know there is: Thou shall NOT kill........hmmmmm...wow, murder is against the law isn't it? Oh, then there is: Thou shall not steal.....wow, there is a law against stealing isn't there?
I've always been one to "live and let live". America is supposed to be "the great melting pot"...but it seems there are those who want that pot to "cool".

Good morning Charli.......
Only an idoit would question your "Marital Status" in that way! MD provides a slot to let others know your married, and list several status levels so others may see if your here for friends or whatever. So many fail to read "The Profile" it's the pic that induces the response, which lends an insight to their level of intelligence For someone to question your motives without clearly reading your profile, is an insult to their own stupidity.
Personally, I'm glad your here and that your marriage is solid enough that Mr.Gregg is secure in your love and the love you share with each other. When people question your intent, what they really are doing is questioning their own, knowing they can't live up to their own judgements. It's like a cheater calling someone a cheater, because they know they will cheat. If their hitting on a married woman, what does that say about them? I've read you in the blogs and have had some email exchanges with you, You are a Lady and conduct your self with Style and Grace...Very Classy Any husband would be proud...
Travelwoman wrote a blog about bashing those of faith.... Even with the best of intentions to ask the question why? It became a bashing session It seems to me, those who are without "Faith" come across as very unhappy mean and spiteful people. Their mission seems to be, destroy and berate someone for believing their is a God a Creator, someone bigger then them, It's "Ego" "Arrogance" and "Foolish Pride" Just like the knucklehead who sends you love/hate letters, he's disturbed by his own loneliness, and chooses to ignore your Document of marrige, when in fact the document doesn't make the marriage,(no more then the Bible makes a Christian) it's what nobody can see, (the faith you have in each other) but rather depends on what the two of you feel for each other. It can't be bought nor can it be seen, but it's very real to you and Mr.Gregg.
What non believers fail to see, is the things in life we can not reach out and touch or see with our own eye's but their real, as real as the atoms we can not reach out and touch. It's the forces behind vision, If God made his presence visual, their would be no need for faith.Their would be no sin, no free agency, no decisions, no test of character, We are living the greatest SAT test of our lives..Spiritual Achievement Triumps. Can we see beyond our eye's? we can't see love, but we feel it and know it to be real.
Nice Rant.... Let the idiots be idiots you can't change that, they are who they are.
Popo
P.S The cross doesn't represent any religion per se, but rather the belief and symbol of one greater then us.To be offended by this is to be offended by their own hatred of someone or something greater then themself.

The funny thing is, there are millions and millions and millions of atheists in the world who don't care about Christianity one way or the other. Or Islam, Hinduism, and all the other thousands of religions.
But because of the very select few who do, the apathy we have is confused with hatred.
As an atheist, I'm here to say this. You have to believe in something to hate it.
I for one don't hate your god any more than I hate a box of KFC.
Actually, KFC does sound pretty good right now. I think I'll stop and get some on my way to work.

Altho I was raised Catholic I have chosen to abide by my own belief.. Harm NONE.. that includes others myself and the earth.. and in attacking anothers beliefs I would be harming someone...There have been many teachers or messengers in this world and if some find comfort in one as opposed to the other that is their choice and should be respected...as long as it doesn't affect anothers rights in the process..
I have read about the cross and Sheesh removing that which was a symbol for those who gave their lives who WERE Christians would be ludicrous.. just as easy to look away.. I bet those same people find nothing offensive in say ...McDonalds arches or In and Out signs right??? well come on they are offensive think about it ...the arches are symbols of BOOBS and the In and OUt well you get my point and OMG dont even get me started on the Running Hotdog for Der WeinerSchnitzel
Why cant we learn as adults and as we teach our children to live and let live and not hurt others?? And if a certain group of folks dont want to be left outta the SYMBOL thingy um make up your OWN k?? Just leave others alone..
Oh and Charli darlin.. Those who would be so rude to you show nothing but a lack of class and breeding and self control... very sad individuals indeed

If you are a Godless unbelieving person, that’s your choice, I will not force my religion on to you.. and in return I do not want your faithless atheism forced on me either. But this is exactly what you're trying to do. A Christian symbol on public property is a promotion of Christianity. And no, this country isn't founded on Christianity. This country was founded on religious freedom. Would you be equally happy if the memorial to the WW1 soldiers was the Crescent Moon and Star of Islam? There would be a furor and Christians would be leading it. The constitution states clearly that while we are God fearing no church can be shown favoritism by any governmental body. This is only right. If someone wants to erect a statue of Mumbo Jumbo as a memorial to our combat dead then more power to them. Just don't do it with public funds or on public property.
The cross memorial was erected on public property and then governmental officials deeded the land and memorial to a "private party" so it wouldn't be government owned. You can't give away public property to preserve a religious symbol either. That's bilking the public of it's property to the advancement of one religion.
I understand that you have strong beliefs and I totally respect you for them and I won't try to change what you believe. I know your beliefs are at least as valid as mine. If you can have this sort of respect for the beliefs of others there will be no problem, and no statues of Mumbo Jumbo on public property.

If you don’t believe in God then that’s your choice, no-one forces you to go to church, speaking of which.. is that the next thing you’ll attack? Churches? It wouldn’t surprise me in the least,. “Tear down those Christian churches!” I hear them cry. Charli, that's exactly what is next. They want to go all the way and they aren't playing around.
It makes me as a Christian even more determined to defend my faith, as others defend theirs. You, along with many others here, are proof that Christians aren't all fanatics, they aren't all fundie lunatics, and they aren't going to lie down like mealy mouthed little doormats without fighting back. We've lost enough ground already, people. Please, let's not hand over any more. Please.
Just to clarify, I don't mean violence, by any means. Our keyboards will work wonders. Get involved in every way that you can, politically or otherwise. If we don't all work together and stand strong, wising up and waking up to what is occurring within our nation, they will win. Who is "they?"
"They" is every single individual, un-friendly atheist and otherwise, who would overturn the US constitution because of their hatred of religion -- and most especially, their hatred of God.
If you are a Godless unbelieving person, that’s your choice, I will not force my religion on to you.. and in return I do not want your faithless atheism forced on me either. Perhaps you might stop in over on the RELIGION forum and give us a hand. We can always use another Christian over there.

Charli I am no christian. I was born a Hindu but surely not a practicing one. I am not athiest either. I just hope God exists and exists surely for me and my girl, but i surely doubt it. despite the above facts, I believe no athiest or believer of another religion should slander christianity or christianity if that is the religion they were born under. I agree with u Charli. Tolerance is the path to belief or even non belef in ones athiesm. V Indians do the same as u christians. V slander our own Hinduism and point out the crap in it as if it is a birth right. Christianity is a great religion and the feelings of the believers of the believers should b respected. Ones personal disbelief in christianity does not give the right to question the belief of others. I believe orange is the best colour, u believe white is.....agree to let everyone thrive!!

Well said, Charli!
I'll admit you made my heart go pitter-patter when I saw the pic of your Sierra Cossie: had I known you when I worked for BA, and you were still single...BUT - I don't make passes at married/"attached" women, so I know it weren't I.
But I digress...I just heard about the Mojave memorial yesterday: funny that one, I've gone off-roading all over the Mojave Preserve, and I've never seen it! (well, I usually stickto the Mojave Road - but I take side trips)
I'm Lutheran - though I haven't been to church in, oh, probably close to 30 years! But, I'm not about to force my religion on smebody else, and they'd darn well better not force theirs on me.

I think that it's perfectly ok to wear a Muslim scarf, a Buddhist robe, a Jewish kippah, or Christian cross necklace as clothing for school.
I don't feel that state run schools should allow children or adults to create plays or have praying time based on religion. I think, in terms of education, that all state run schools should allow equal amount of bookshelf space for all the known religions to man throughout history.... (including books on cults, atheism and agnostic teaching) if any are allowed at all. Only as a subject of history not faith.
If people prefer prayer they should go to religious schools not funded by the government, that is ok too. They won't have to be pressured from outside influences and they can continue to keep their religious beliefs alive within their own families instead of exposure to the other beliefs.
