He knew the job was going to be tough, and yet, he waded into the conflict. He did his job, even to the point of being overzelous, but he never forgot about the people of this country who were in his charge. He was attacked by the oppisiton repeatedly, but never failed to perform his duty.
Granted, his laurels and accalades came from only those that shared his views and political ideals in the conflict, but it does not diminish his acomplishments in a time of great trial for our country. The enemy are not supposed to give you laurels, only those sympathetic to the cause.
His daring initiative, great personal valor, and heroic spirit of self-sacrifice in service of others reflect great credit upon Bush. A testiment to the great navel tradition he came from.

Yes he did his job. The never ending jokes, the people who criticized him non stop, people calling a War illegal. He cracked me up most of the time. He was funny to watch. I love the man and still laugh at him from time to time. Not because he was a goof, but because he was real. He wasn't reading word for word on a teleprompter, he couldn't say Nuclear to save his life. lol He was real!
People took advantage of how vulnerable he was. He was an easy target. Not polished and coached like our present Pres. The sick jokes that have been made at his and his families expense. Even the gross jokes made about the Palins. Sickening. from what i understand, someone even made a porno and the lead person in it was made to look like Sarah Palin.. who does something like that? What type of "human" does that?
He was heroic and he made all of us feel that we mattered and that America mattered. No one wants to see other countries in turmoil and i feel that he did the right thing trying to help other countries release themselves from their oppressors. Saddam Hussein is dead and gone, no longer tormenting his country. That's an amazing feat. and one huge step for Iraq. When i saw Iraqi's on TV thanking us, Thanking Pres. Bush. That was it for me. I hope we can "end" the war and that Iraq can get themselves back on their feet and keep control in their Country. They have been taught to fight back.
He earned all his kudos and criticism.

No need to get pissy just because someone of another political party won an award. I really thought you were better than that.

I'm still trying to figure out if Bard knows who he is talking about. Bush43 didn't come from someone's umbilicus. Although he probably had one himself. (Umbilicus = Belly button = Navel)
For that matter, shrub wasn't in the Navy, either. So....

Repub> you knew when you wrote this it wasn't true... "he made all of us feel that we mattered and that America mattered" So the question becomes...why...when we know such assertions are not truthful to begin with...do we bother to make such assertions? That word..."all"... is a word of universal inclusion. Like...what planet does a president live on in which that is ever the case??? All???
Bush was reviled by half the country upon his first election because it was witnessed and experienced as theft by half the country. You don't make people feel like they mattered in the manner in which he 'won' his office. People wanted to support the president after 9/11...it's that whole 'we versus they' mentality we have when we enter heady competition - despite the team, support em...but even then, there were still segments of the country who didn't care for him or the team, trust, believe or whatever in him or the team.
And then when the team turned their attention to Iraq, the support he had garnered in the swamp of 'we-ness' starting dropping precipitously as misled the nation to war. He never recovered from that.
I can certainly agree that he had support from people, as Bard pointed out, who agreed with him. Who doesn't have that support? But why claim 'he made us all feel we mattered?' Like...where does such a claim even originate from?? What does it even mean???
But I think Bard points out something very important, which is really interesting because I don't think it was his intent...
...his laurels and accalades came from only those that shared his views and political ideals in the conflict...The enemy are not supposed to give you laurels, only those sympathetic to the cause. Maybe it was his intent, I don't know. But notice the comment...those who disagreed with the team, with the herd of the team...they become...became...the enemy.
Members of your own society...your own nation we bluster so much about loving...the people who differ...who think your light is on and no one's home...those people...they are the enemy.
That pretty much sums up how the White House team saw the nation as well...the people loved em (that die-hard 18-24%) and then...there were...the enemy.
Not hard to understand why he didn't get laurels and accolades outside that circle. Not only did we NOT MATTER, but we were....the enemy.
Sure explains a lot doesn't it, about the nature of political discourse today?

Observed, You know everything you say is rubbish. But you go out of your way, every time you're given the chance. No one cares, your long and drawn out rubbish isn't smart or entertaining.

i didn't agree with a lot of what bush said or did, but i also don't get all the rampant hatred spewed his way.
there's been bad and good in every president. he seemed to get the brunt of it and a lot of exaggerated claims of his performance. history will show this to be true.
now we are a country divided more than ever. this will be blamed on bush for a while, but when it comes down to it it's all so one-sided.
oh well, i'm just glad to see that someone has something to say about bush other than he sucks or looks like a monkey or whatever idiotic thing people like to say.

He lied to the American public to get us into an unjust war, by the time he left office our country was nearly in a depression and the no child left behind program fail terribly.
Now, what he did for Africa was awesome, between food and loads of med for the people there.
Now, if one is a rep you have to hate him, he got Obama elected by the way he ran things.
