I'm a bus driver now with my own bus. The seats are gone and I've put down hardwood flooring and continue to improve the interior with cabinets, a nice bed and air conditioning. My new mattress, a Tempurpedic knockoff sits on a wooden frame. I've built these frames for over 15 years. Compared to the old 6" futon that had squished down to like 2 inches, it's like sleeping on a cloud. I'm in heaven.
The small black refrigerator makes no noise and keeps my favorite beverages and snacks cool, calm and collected. A painting of King Kong and Faye Ray sits next to some real stuffed frogs, from Mexico, in their Mariachi costumes. She appears to like King Kong as he tugs at her flimsy silky white dress. You can imagine the frogs singing with Linda Rondstadt. A wall hanging from Bali, that I picked up at a yard sale for five bucks, is stuck to one of the bus windows. It has some religious significance but I don't know what. The colors are brilliant. I'm not religious but I like the images.
No, I'm not ready to move all of my possessions inside but it won't be long. Maybe by next spring, I'll have sprung out of here and onto the great highways of America. A jump into the bowels of the dark USA before the earth plows into the sun. I won't be staying on the big Interstates where you can't see anything. I'll be on the byways where the weird and excitables hang out. Where the normal people saunter on the sidewalks and buy their stuff from the local merchants. Where no one knows your name. They only know the ones who never left town.
You don't have to wait at some fckn designated bus stop. Just flag me down and I'll give you a ride. You don't need a ticket...just get on board.

With a little research, you can find many small towns who have hook-ups, or partial hook-ups in their city-parks. Often, there are only 4-5 spaces to have, but also, it's often free, or very low cost.
Also a good trick to find out-of-the-way "attractions".... take your RandMcNally road atlas, put on your reading glasses or squint real hard, and find those red dots that stand for things of interest. Some are universities, but others can turn out to be funny or interesting places, well worth a stop and a few photos.
Have fun on the road.

Killer! My Dad and his buddies fixed up an old hearse back in the day. They picked up chicks without fail.
Not sure I'd want to get near a chick that's turned on by a hearse though.
Drop by if you get around Cackylacky way. Maybe those freaks Dad and his gang hung out with have some daughters around here somewhere.

Oh yea, it could be that I will make the MD tour reminiscent of the old days of Ken Kesey and Jack Keroac but with a modern flair. So people get ready For the train a-comin You dont need no baggage You just get on board ! When I'm ready to roll, I'll need names and addresses and remember to clear a place for a 1989 40 footer. See you soon!

The "Magical Mystery Tour" bus should make a swing by good ole San Antonio!! Plenty of weird and interesting stuff here. Could go to the Toilet Seat Museum!
Barney Smith's Toilet Seat Art Museum
Or there is Cascade Caverns and Cave Without a Name
Or you could bring out your "inner" cowboy here...Enchanted Springs Ranch and maybe just MAYBE you could see a chupacabra!!
And last but not least you could charm the snakes at the Snake Farm
Good times!!

Sounds like a Least Heat Moon adventure, but I'd avoid the Aqua Velva saute'ed eggs.
