I just got the call. Cleo quietly passed away 11:15am. My ex-wife spent the morning at the nursing home. Now they are awaiting the coroner to take the body away.

For those who didn't know Cleo, she was positive and focused on accomplishment. Her simple outwardly appearance was truly a disguise. Cleo and her husband Dee moved to Miami back in the 1950's. Together they built a small empire of friends and associates. They owned several rental properties and did many things to help the community. I'm told Cleo was responsible for setting up 'home economics' classes in some of the county schools here. Her husband volunteered his time teaching youths the game of tennis. There's a park with tennis courts named in his honor. They opened their house to many young aspiring tennis kids from all races, including Arthur Ashe. I thought they were kidding me with this story until I found a magazine article interview where Arthur mentions summer camp in Florida and how Cleo and Dee treated him like a son. Pretty amazing how many good things came from such a pretty mild couple.

We are only on this earth for a very short time. Cleo made the best of her time and her influence inspired many. It wouldn't surprise me if I sense Cleo around again.
